@Snowdrop: Ha ha, the dungeons are pretty scary : ) Great at Halloween though!

@Cherrybee: We think so... we aren't permanent resident here, just temp and we're going through the process of reapplying for paperwork right now. If everything works out with this pregnancy we'd like to stay here for that (because, frankly, I am shit scared of an NHS birth after some of my friends' experiences - although you only hear the bad ones, don't you?People don't tend to share the good ones). So maybe in about a year? I'm ready to be back with our family and friends and have Galaxy and fish, chips and curry sauce on hand 24/7 :silly:

@Snowdrop: I definitely feel like it's too good to be true and I'm almost 19 weeks! I have to keep reminding myself that I'm pregnant and nothing bad is going to happen. It's hard. I think I would feel better if I could feel her moving. We go for an ultrasound today though!

@Snowdrop: Ahhh, I haven't been to Saddleworth but there are moors, right? I'm from York (actually a small town not far from there but went to uni in York and worked there for many years. DH is from Halifax, which is probably where we'll settle when we move back.

@Cherrybee: I love North Yorkshire! When I was a reporter I used to cover a lot of the little villages like Helmsley, so, so beautiful!

We'll have to have a HB meet up somewhere pretty with afternoon tea when we move home

As you know I'm sort of on the fence too. I didn't know you were in England! Doh I should have known.

My dating scan is at 7-8 weeks so I have to wait 3 more weeks for that. That feels like forever... I can't imagine waiting till 12 weeks... boooooooo.

I can't wait to see the little heart beat... I hope it's there.

I deal with it by taking opks and pregnancy tests every few days for comfort. I have a ton ... stocked up for the long TTCing road... might as well use them! :D

Good luck lady. Happy and Healthy 9 months!

I had no morning sickness and wasnt terribly tired. I just figured everyday that i wasnt bleeding or cramping was a day that i was still pregnant. We didnt tell my parents until 6 weeks so i spent a lot of time on hellobee and I actually started a journal since there werent many people i could talk to until we told everyone at 11 weeks.

Thanks guys, @looch: the lack of symptoms must be both a blessing and a curse!

I felt that way regularly. I remember getting the BFP, then calling the doctor and having to wait 3 weeks to get in there for a confirmation. Then I was fine for a day or so, and anxious until the next appointment...rinse and repeat until the actual delivery!

I also had no morning sickness, so I never had any physical thing to measure my pregnancy against.

That early early stage is so hard!! I didn't have symptoms till 6/7 weeks.... I ended up getting a scan at 8 weeks due to some bleeding, then again at 12 weeks.... You could try to ask your doc to get in in a few weeks just to ease your worries.

For me, it helped to know that many people don't start having symptoms/morning sickness until 6 weeks.
It gave me a closer milestone to look forward too, rather than my 8 week ultrasound. And while I'm not having crazy symptoms every day (I'm 6w6d), I've noticed enough changes that I'm starting to feel pregnant

I'm not gonna lie though, I did take a lot of tests the first couple weeks  It was so reassuring to see the pink lines getting darker and darker.

Have you asked your doctor if you could come in earlier? 12 weeks seems like a long time, I thought 8-10 weeks was standard for a first visit.

I feel the same way!!! My journey was not long but I feel okay except allergies and it is so odd. DH did not react as I suspected because he, too, is having trouble comprehending two lines on a stick really is the real deal. I'm still waiting for AF to be late though. Then I'm calling my GP to ask for a blood test confirmation. I think. :)

@Snowdrop: I felt like it was "real" only when my morning sickness kicked in. I completely understand the feelings of "is this too good to be true?" I took a lot of HPTs but only had one blood test. Luckily my ultrasounds started early (6 weeks) because I was under the care of an RE.

Congratulations! I did not have a difficult road to pregnancy, but I do remember the early weeks being very unsettling for the reasons you mentioned. Its just a lot of waiting, and if you're a pessimist by nature, or anxious- you feel like you are waiting for something bad to happen.

My doctor's office does a dating ultrasound at 8 weeks for everyone, so I didn't have to wait as long as you for that- and it helped a lot. I also remember that I did some research about nutrition in pregnancy and when I wasn't falling asleep at my desk or in the 30 minutes after dinner before I went to sleep for the night (I was so exhausted!) I made little charts and kept track of my eating / water consumption / activity / etc.
I like to DO things and feel like I have some control, so that gave me sometime to focus on a little bit.

Oh absolutely. It doesn't feel real at all, does it? It doesn't help that, when you are TTC, you are often actively doing something - charting, using OPKs, BDing, testing and then when you get that BFP everything grinds to a halt and you're left in a kind of limbo! Nothing's changed but everything's changed, all in three minutes!!

I "coped" by taking 14 pregnancy tests and scrutinising the lines (not recommended!!) and then I paid for a private u/s at 7 weeks so we could see the heartbeat. That helped.

Many congratulations!

After getting my first ever bfp after 12months trying and on progesterone support I just can't help feeling like this is just too good to be true. Ive no symptoms yet really (4+5 today) which I think is adding to my anxiety and my first scan won't be till 12weeks which seems an age away...
How did you cope?
