I was in daycare until the day I started kindergarten, and that was totally fine. Sometimes I wonder if I'm being ridiculous, but I decided at the end of the day, I want to give her the best shot I can. And this school, which is the preschool feed for a prestigious private school, is definitely the best...Hence the crazy wait list. We moved to a city that has very high cost of living/property value, but amazing public schools. So we decided to pay more for our home to live here, and that we are basically investing the money that we would have to pay for private school elsewhere into our home and LO can go to these public schools while we live in a great area. Ours will be about $1200 a month including after care. We currently pay about $800 a month for full time daycare. But I hear all the time from parents of kids who go to the preschool that their kids could read and do lots of advanced things before they went to kindergarten. So I decided it was worth it. </p> <p>The school is first come, first served and they give priority to siblings of previous students. Which sucks because we may not get in just because someone else rolls in with "lineage" that we don't have yet. This is her first year and she loves it there. I was also worried about needing to be potty trained (she's not) and how they handle that, parent involvement (I want to be involved!), and other things like that.
