Don't worry, stalk your registry the week, and especially the day before your shower. I'll bet you'll see a ton of stuff got purchased, most people just wait until the last minute to buy gifts! :)

Don't worry! It's still early :) And it doesn't mean they're not excited! Everybody is different. My dad drips small amounts of money. My extended side of the family gives random, off-registry gifts (judging from our wedding). My FIL and DH's uncle give larger lump sums of money. His aunt gives gifts off the registry. Diffren't strokes!

My inlaws promised to buy the stroller/car seat combo for us and showed up to the shower (40 minutes late) with a box of size 3 diapers and a package of wipes. They brought my daughter a stuffed bunny when she was born and that was all they did for her. Not to make you feel worse but only like 2-3 people bought anything from our registry which was incredibly frustrating. I understand registries are just "suggestions" but its pretty hard to have almost an entire registry left to buy... We did get some gift cards and checks that helped though and of course tons of diapers... Thank goodness we had been getting most of the big things ourselves throughout the pregnancy and even had a back up plan car seat and stroller..

We have generous families, however only 6 items have been bought off my registries (both combined.) My shower is still a couple weeks away, and I'm guessing procrastination is a big part. I'm trying not to check so I don't get disappointed.

I didn't get anything from my in-laws or even my parents until after the baby came, and they were extremely excited about the baby. But that might've been more of a cultural thing.

A lot of gifts (except for what's received at the baby shower) typically don't come until after the baby is born. I don't think you need to worry about it based on your registry. I got a lot of gift cards, and items that weren't on the list. Cheer up, it'll all be good in then end.

My BRU registry didn't show when people bought things, so I thought nobody was buying anything. At my shower I actually ended up getting doubles of some things since the registry wasn't working.

Once LO was born we did end up getting LOTS of gifts from people, even people who had already given gifts at the shower, which I didn't expect.

And I agree with pp, people tend to be very, very last minute. Some people showed up to my shower late because they had stopped to buy something on the way, and just gave it to me in the shopping bag.

I just had my shower and gifts were either purchased off registry or they were purchased in the 1-2 days before the shower. People are just procrastinators... I bet they're plenty excited about baby and your shower!

Like other posters have said, I think it is procrastination. Both my wedding and baby registry remained untouched until the week of, and we ended up getting almost everything we requested. I think because people don't have to think about the gift, just the price point they tend to wait until the last minute when it comes to purchasing gifts were a registry is involved.

I was going through the same thing. My MIL didn't get us anything for the shower, although she did throw the shower. My FIL gave us the tiniest amount of cash that it was a little insulting. My husband dropped the most subtle of hints to his mother and she just offered to buy us a crib. I don't know if she would've done it anyway, and I certainly wasn't asking for such a big gift. I was just kind of sad that she's not showing the excitement I was expecting. But I guess people express it differently? She's definitely a more reserved person. Maybe your family will come through?

2 weeks is a long time. I think people started buying things off my registry the last few days before the shower. Also, some people are superstitious and won't get anything until the baby is born.

i think the ability to buy things online and get them shipped the next day definitely leads to procrastination! plus, you never know, people might be buying cute little things they've found on their own (although of course buying from the registry would be more useful). also, in the past, i have given a lot of gift cards for showers instead of gifts.

Could it be a cultural thing? I say that because I'm starting to think that's how it is for me. DD is the first grandchild in both families and although my family has been extremely excited and gifted us with things, no one in DH's family had given anything baby related until she was born, and even so, it's what my friends and family would consider a gift for a acquaintance or co-worker. But they've been oh-so happy to hold her and see her, so it can't be because they're not excited ... and it's not about the money either. My only conclusion is that it's just "different" with them.

We did get a lovely gift from one of the aunts (that his mom used to talk about) and it was just unexpected and so sweet of her because we're not even close and we only met once. Apparently the difference doesn't account for everyone.

Probably more than half of my registry was bought the day of my shower. My SIL just had her shower and I registry stalked for her and freaked out because barely anything was bought 3 days before her shower, but she got pretty much everything from her registry.

People just like to procrastinate!

Don't worry, I am one of those people who will go out the day before a shower and purchase a gift off the registry. I know a lot of other people are like that as well. So don't stress yet, I'm sure once it gets closer a lot of people will get stuff and be excited for you!

Try to stay positive, sorry MIL isn't as excited as you'd expected. I know a lot of my family who are out of town gave me money and a picture of the intended item so I could pick it up locally instead of having to transport it back home (shower was at my mom's house 3hr away). Others bought items off my registry but at stores other than where I registered (better price I guess) so in the end I got a lot from my registry even though the registry may not have shown it. There are always the last minute shoppers as well.

Aw, sorry. It might just be that everyone is procrastinating, though. I know with my showers, both wedding and baby, people always tended to wait until the last minute to buy gifts. And there are always people who get off-registry stuff, too.

generally speaking, our families are very generous. but as far as the registry goes - my shower is saturday and only like, 12 things have been bought, lol. I know most people shop last minute (we did very well at our bridal shower) but I've been feeling so bummed about it. I know a lot of people (esp family) aren't able to make the shower because of summer plans such as camping, so I was kind of sad. I know people are excited for her to be born - so I'm trying to keep my head up!

The other thing to keep in mind, that I've heard from others, is that sometimes registries glitch - I've heard from friends who thought nothing was bought and EVERYTHING they received was from registry (including many, many doubles because everything registered as 0!). In addition, some people might not have had the purchase taken off the registry, or will wait til the week of/day before.

2 weeks ago, the only gift purchased was (I think) from my aunt. And invites had been out for almost a month already! No worries - I bet you'll get tons of goodies closer to the date! :)

I'm now 2 weeks away from my baby shower and the only person that has bought something off the registry so far is my MIL. She purchased a baby monitor and some travel baby soaps. No one else has purchased anything and the invites went out 3 weeks ago. I guess I'm just feeling a little down about the lack of registry purchases/ the lack of any baby related gifts at all. We haven't recieved anything for baby from any of our families. This will be the first baby in 15 years on DH's side and we were both expecting MIL to get a little more excited then she has. This is more of a vent then anything. I just feel like no one is excited about our baby :(
