@Bookworm: It's really smart that you're doing this so early! It'll just make you more confident and comfortable to do date nights or other things without your LO! I have friends who didn't leave their LO until she was over a YEAR and it was soooooo hard on both parents and child! If you do it early and often enough, the kids are totally cool with it!! I hope you're able to have fun!!!

@Adira: Yay, that'll be fun!! Yeah, I didn't expect us to be able (or willing) to go this soon on a date, but the opportunity presented itself and I figured I should take advantage! I think I'm just lucky to have a LO that really isn't too fussy, and to have family in town that I trust with her this young! Have fun at your wedding! It'll go great! :)

(It doesn't hurt that they live across the street from a hospital...just in case...)

@Bookworm: Wow, good for you!!!! Hubs and I are going on our first DATE this weekend (Xander will be five months) and we're only going because it's a wedding we're attending, hahaha! It'll be our first night we're both away from Xander! I'm both scared and excited!

@Adira: He went back half-time when she was 10 days old. This week (at 2.5 weeks) he went back full time and comes home for lunch. It's definitely been rough!

@Dandelion: @Revel: Thank you :) I do feel like I'm getting a better hand on changing her diaper, so that's something!! Haha!

I did just schedule us a date night for Saturday, and I'm simultaneously thrilled and terrified. My SIL, BIL, niece and nephew live about 15 mins away, and they offered to watch her while we go to a movie. I think it'll be great, and I totally trust them...but I definitely teared up thinking of leaving her with someone other than DH.

BUT, a happy marriage is important, and we both need a break!

Big hugs! I'm only a few weeks ahead of you (LO is almost 8 weeks) but I will say that weeks 1-3 were the absolute hardest for me. It is far from easy now but I feel a little more together. By 4 weeks even I felt like I was starting to come out of the fog, so relief may be right around the corner. Even if it's not, know that you are doing a great job, this is hard stuff!

@Bookworm: When did he go back? I would still SOB at just the THOUGHT of my husband going back to work at 3 weeks. It wasn't until 4 weeks that I finally felt like MAYBE I could make it through the day. Were were doing EASY, so I'd tell myself "Okay, one EASY routine down, 2.5 more to go!" I could not WAIT for my husband to come home at the end of the day. And for a month after he went back to work, he worked twice a week from home and I LIVED for those days, haha. When he finally went back to work full-time without working from home, we were at 8 weeks, and I FINALLY felt like I had a handle on things, haha. I was a mess. So I think you're doing pretty awesomely!

@Adira: Aw, thanks! Yeah I told DH I really needed him to come check on me at lunch, if only to get a little adult interaction and be able to hand her off for 5 mins! He tried to go back to work after 1 week and it was baaaad. :p

@rawrasaur: I'd like that!!

@Bookworm: I think you're doing an amazing job!!! I begged Hubs not to go back to work until Xander was 4 weeks, and even then, he worked twice a week from home because I was a completely DISASTER and could barely take care of Xander, let alone myself!

This morning has just been...not very good. This morning LO woke up at 530 and DH and I started snapping at each other for no reason, which led to a sleep deprived fight. We sorta made up and he went to work, but when LO woke back up at 9, she ate and then refused to go back down for a nap for nearly 3hrs, despite being fussy and yawning.

She started screaming when I tried to put her in her crib or the rock n play...so she ended up sleeping on me. Fine, I had planned on cleaning the house as a treat/apology to DH, but whatever. DH comes home for lunch, hes stressed out from work so not in a great mood...and I runnn to pee because I've been stuck on the couch.

Then, icing on the cake, I spend 8 freaking mins microwaving my darn lunch, only to trip and spill the damn thing all over the floor. Cue crying. I don't think I've ever seen DH so relieved to get back to work.

Sigh. I'm texting my friend to see if she'll go get a drink with me tomorrow evening. Momma needs a break.
