My only issue has been staying awake late enough to watch my favorite shows.

I think I've been experiencing this but I think it's just because I am more emotional in general. We watched that new Kevin Bacon show last night (it has to do with a serial killer and is pretty graphic for network!) and overall I enjoyed it but I found myself literally gasping out loud or covering my eyes, which I wouldn't normally do.

I stopped watching Criminal Minds a couple of years ago because I found it just too disturbing in general.

I'm not currently pregnant, but during pregnancy and now that I am a parent, things like that disturb me much more. I used to me into that kind of thing, now I'm not at all.

Nope. I had a Law and Order marathon this weekend...and a lot of the episodes involve kids! I know it's just tv and it's just for entertainment.

Only things that have to do with kids being hurt/dying. Obviously I was sad about them before, but now when a kid (esp a baby) is injured or otherwise on a tv show, I LOSE IT. Gah!! Preggo hormones.... But, I'm still good watching Walking Dead soooo I'll count my blessings :p

Not that, specifically, but something else. I got my degree in Russian, and I studied a lot of history of the soviet period. Which is, in parts, hideously depressing. Lately I've felt like reengaging with it to a degree, and I just cannot. I can no longer maintain the emotional distance required to absorb it while not becoming overcome by it. It's really disappointing - I loved my studies, and I assumed that I'd continue them for the rest of my life. I hope I can come back to it.

I only have issues with episodes that involve kids. I started watching CSI:Miami when DH went back to work, and there have been a few episodes where I hold LO close and just tell her that we're going to take care of her and protect her. She's 4 weeks old, so it's not like she understands but it makes me feel better.

I noticed this during my first pregnancy and it's proven to be true during my second pregnancy too - I'm unable to watch a lot of the television shows that I enjoy because suddenly they're a little too graphic for my 'tender pregnant sensibilities' - and stomach.

Shows like CSI, Bones, even Criminal Minds which isn't that graphic! Anyone else having this problem with some of their favorite television shows?
