@blushink I don't really know how we got the other rooms- I think they look nice but they just sort of happened, I didn't plan it that way, and we are still adding to our bedroom (since we started all over when we moved into this place last year..) I will definitely keep in mind that the baby will grow into a toddler pretty quickly, though!

We'll still be in an apartment, probably, just a bigger one than the one bedroom we're in now til we buy a house.

@purrpletulips That's probably how we'll end up doing things too!

Didn't get obsessed with nursery planning mainly because our nursery isn't very big: crib, dresser/changing place, rocker/glider. We hung two pictures on the wall (one of baby zoo animals and one of DH when he was about 3 on a carousel horse that was painted by his grandmother) and said it was an "animal" theme. We've added books and toys as LO has gotten older and we don't want them throughout the house.

We moved when I was 8 months pregnant, but I still was obsessed with the nursery. That's the first room that I did. But really the baby had no idea anything in her nursery even existed for months.

A nursery won't be a priority for us. Assuming we get pregnant within the next year, our baby will be sleeping in our room since we're in an apartment.

Honestly it took me a while to decide on what we wanted to do for the nursery. We actually only have a crib that's baby. The rest are pieces that will grow with her throughout the years.

I think you need to tell yourself that it's not permenant and that in a couple of years you will be switching it up to a toddler room anyway. Attack it like any other space in your home.

@jessiejo17: I am also nervous about this...I want a really cute nursery, but don't really know how to go about making one, and I feel overwhelmed when I start looking at all the inspiration out there! Sooo hopefully baby will at least have a place to sleep :)

@Lemondrop Thanks for the encouragement, I guess I have been a little stressed at the thought of moving at that time!

@Pointybird Yes, I've always thought that too, the nurseries are for the parents. On the one hand I worry I'll regret not doing one, and on the other I just can't get into it!

I'm not creative, and wouldn't even know where to start! I love swooning over other's nurseries and get totally jealous of their work. Our kids won't have a fancy nursery. If I was more creative, I'd probably be more into it.

I'm excited, but nervous that my ideas won't translate as well once done. I don't have a decorating bone, so I have great ideas but they never come across when completed. Hopefully my friend can help me, as she has a great decorating sense!

We have the standard stuff in our son's nursery...but it's nothing I am attached to and we'll sell it all in a few months anyway when we move.

I figured I can do his big boy room in something more interesting and fun when he has a preference.

I'm definitely not anti-nursery (I DIEEEE at beautiful nursery photos) but it's not a huge priority for us. We kept the nursery super simple (just furniture, a few stuffed animals for decoration, and the only wall decorations are his baby shower cards hung on a string like a clothesline) and once our kids are little older (maybe 4?) we'll do some super cool kids' rooms. Wagon Jr. only spends time in his room for sleeping, so I figure the less distractions the better. I actually placed some baseball-themed stuff in his room on the shelves and stuff recently, and during his bedtime routine he's whining for them! Wagon Sr. was like, "big mistake..."

@sloaneandpuffy: Yes! "The Man with Two Brains" has a little more of the poem, but it is definitely the same as "LA Story"! I love that movie. Now this is getting way off topic :)

I love Olive's nursery, but aside from the crib, it doesn't have any "nursery" furniture. We just repurposed things we already had or accepted hand-me-downs.

And I don't think there's any rush! Olive is 4 months old and just started sleeping in her crib a couple weeks ago. And she does most of her playing in the living room or in our bed with us. I agree with @sloaneandpuffy - fancy nurseries are for the parents, not the baby!

We didn't finish until after the baby came, and my husband did almost everything. The super matchy fancy nurseries are more for the parents than the kid. I think ours turned out fine but we definitely didn't pour a lot of money/sweat into it!

I can understand- originally we weren't going to do more than a crib and dresser. In your situation it must be really hard not being able to settle in due to your move. Just give it time, it will all work out once you are in your new place.

Eventually things started coming together, we never really had a theme or plan in mind. We just started collecting what we liked and it ended up fitting together.

The title sort of says it all...

It's not that I don't LOVE looking at other people's nursery photos, etc. But we are moving right before my due date (from a one bedroom) and I'm just glad we get to have a separate room at all! I thought that I would be more into it since I like looking at other people's nurseries, but I'm just way too indecisive!

Even if I were to plan something, I'm afraid I'll just get bored with whatever I choose quickly..

So I think what we will be doing is just picking things out as it happens and not really planning anything, and hopefully it will all work out! :)

Anyone else in my boat?
