My husband is like this (he has been for years, even before we had a baby). It's really hard to deal with as a spouse - I definitely recommend seeing a therapist, especially if you feel like it's getting worse.

Postpartum OCD is a real thing! Definitely try therapy/talk w your OB or Dr about it! http://www.postpartumprogress.com/the-symptoms-of-postpartum-depression-anxiety-in-plain-mama-english

I agree that i think therapy for anxiety would be best. It's okay to want to keep your child safe but this is going to a level where it is really affecting your life.

I received counselling for PPD and during those sessions it came out that I had a huge anxiety problem following the birth of my now 9 month old. The anxiety generally focuses around cleaning - my counselor used the term OCD but I don't think it really falls under that heading to be honest. I think mine is more of a control issue that a germ phobia.... I also worry constantly about her hurting herself and have baby proofed to the max.

I think it's pretty common but it sounds to me as though your anxiety/OCD is affecting your life a lot so if I were you I'd get some help before #2 comes along.

This happened too me and it's just as strong now 19 months later. I can't really keep DS from touching everything though at this age and that ups my worry.

I was diagnosed with post partum anxiety and post partum ocd. Apparently, that's a real thing. I don't think it's something you can just "let go", though it would be awesome if you could!

It's definitely a challenge. I also meditate as @StbHisMrs: said and go to acupuncture for anxiety. Whatever works!

I can get like this over germs but not to this extent. Have you considered therapy for anxiety? It sounds like it might be getting to the point where it's affecting your life.

I've been struggling with anxiety over the past few years and it's been such a challenge :(

It happened to me after my first and has slowly gotten worse through the years. It's an anxiety/panic attack deal for me, my Mom bought me some meditating books to possibly help.

Ever since Lo was born 2 years ago, I have become obsessed with cleanliness, and am constantly washing my hands. I see germs everywhere, and freak out if my pants touch the side of the toilet bowl. I constantly harass my husband about washing his hands as well, or freak out if he brushes up against the toilet, and it irritates the hell out of him and he doesnt want to humor me.

Now we have relatives staying with us for the next 2 months to help with #2, and I am experiencing anxiety about other people washing dishes, putting clean dishes away, handling laundry, etc., because I will constantly wonder if their hands are clean.

I know I am being an OCD control freak. How do I let it go? Is it weird to say upfront that I want them to wash their hands before they touch a single thing in my house?
