It's 50/50 if he'll just chew on it vs sucking on it. I just hold it and leave it in his mouth and after chewing a couple times, he'll suck on it and get some liquid out. Few sips, back to chewing. </p> <p>Another technique I do is that I suck up the water into the straw then just feed him the straw with the liquid instead of giving him the cup with the straw. And as for the lids getting moldy, they do BUT you can pop the lid apart and clean it! Took about 4 months for her to get it. Then one day it just clicked. But she would only drink a couple ozs at a time.
