Love this thread. DH is a super dad. When we were in the trenches of newborn-hood he would get up, get LO, bring him to me to nurse, then change diaper, swaddle, rock etc. while I went back to sleep. Even when he is stressed at work he is making sure I'm in a balanced place emotionally and encourages me to get out by myself, etc. He is a natural with LO and I love watching them play! This gives me the tiniest amount of hope. I've seen the good and the bad with new dad's, and I'm hoping DH takes on more of the former. I know for a fact that he won't help with any overnight stuff. He is a hard sleeper and won't wake up for anything, and I will prepare for that. I just hope he will help during the day with any newborns. I've been reading a few posts lately where DHs haven't been as helpful as the bees would have liked, but this one is awesome. And it truly reminds me of my DH.</p> <p>We split duties 50/50 and never hesitate to ask each other for a break if we need it. We rarely fight about baby duties, and I feel like we're partners in the truest sense when it comes to LO. I have morning duty, he has after work duty until I can get home. We do bath time together...we take turns with the right before bed feeding and reading to LO. It's wonderful, and I love my DH so much for it. So I'm right there with you! My DH is definitely a super dad. He normally does more than half of the baby duties (often while taking care of other household stuff as well, which I can never manage to do). And this week I was away for two days on a business trip, so he handled two nights and two mornings alone, with a baby who is used to breastfeeding for those meals. Plus he took photos, uploaded a video so I could see what LO was doing, and did the laundry. He works 65+ hour weeks, goes to school 3 nights a week and does ALL the nighttime wake ups. He will also wash bottles if needed, he mows the lawn and helps out around the house as much as he can.
