Mine mostly skipped crawling and scooting. He was terrible at it when he infrequently tried, and often just ended up making 360 turns on his belly - it was hilarious. He preferred to cruise, and did that for a LONG time and finally started walking at around 13m.

I love the bum scoot. DS scooted on his bum until he was 16 months old and then started walking. He crawled for maybe a couple days around 14 months. We actually had him in PT for walking because he qualified for early intervention, but in retrospect I don't think it was necessary, I think he was just waiting until he could walk without falling down.

Mine never crawled. Only scooting, and she got FAST! She would get marks on the one leg tucked under all the time, but once she transitioned to walking around 12-13mo, she never looked back.

I think it was maybe a second child thing for her, because she realized it was the fastest way to keep up with her big sister.

DD never crawled. She did this hilarious bum scoot until she started walking. She didn't walk till 16 months - most likely she was afraid big brother will bowl her over when they're playing. This is still a problem...

It seems to be genetic, pretty much no one on my side of the family crawled. DS did, but only because he had physical therapy, and the therapist went out of his way to encourage it.

My son skipped crawling completely. Like your DD he just hates being on his tummy. He scooted around on his bottom. He walked holding onto things or our hands for a while. He was maybe 14 months when he finally got brave enough to walk around everywhere away from the house.

My son. Butt scoot until 17 months, then running like a crazy person. He has a killer core, now, from all of that scooting:)

My youngest did! He scooted around on his bum for months. He hated being on his belly and would just flip on to his back and start screaming to be picked up and then eventually figured out how to get into sitting position and scooted around instead. I don't think crawling is even considered a milestone, just trying to get from point a to point b. He started walking at 12.5 months and finally figured out how to crawl shortly after that but only does it to play, not to get around.

Eta he could have walked earlier too but also just decided to do it one day and was running literally within a day of walking.

My first has always done things her own way. She never really knee crawled, just scooted. She didn’t walk until almost 18m and oddly she never did the usual slow progression to walking ... she just got up one day and walked like she’d been doing it forever. Some kids are just weird :silly:

Ps she’s almost 6 now and was never delayed after she started walking!

DD has always hated being on her stomach. She is almost 9mo and still not crawling (DS was almost waking at this point. They really couldn’t be more different!)

she has now almost mastered the bum scoot to get where she wants to go. I’m wondering if she will skip crawling all together.

Who’s kid skipped crawling? When did they start to walk? Did they always hate crawling?
