It hit my one son Saturday evening and seemed pretty quick. His twin brother just started throwing up moments ago so almost exactly 48 hours later. I'm living in fear that I'll get it and have been washing my hands like crazy and wiping down every doorknob, liget switch etc. Really hoping it doesn't hit me!

We had this last month. I've heard dairy is not very good for a stomach bug, but the kids did have some milk when they were just getting better because that's what they craved and they were barely eating anything else. It's a pretty nasty bug, I'm used to them only lasting a day, but at least the actual puking didn't last too long.

My son had the throwing up part in the middle of the night on a Sunday/Monday and had loose, stinky diapers for a week about 2 weeks ago. I got the puking 4 days later and it was the worst experience. I think my son's poops are still adjusting because he's going more often and some of them are fine and some are still on the loose side.

We did the BRAT diet for a day, but he wanted more substantial foods after that and has been eating a ton since getting sick. He has been asking for seconds a lot. He limited food on his own the day he was sick.

It hit everyone in my house with the exception of my oldest daughter around 1/9. It lasted a full week. It was terrible!

DS1 and my MIL had it last weekend. It lasted @ 36 hours. Once he started eating and drinking he had pastina in broth, toasted English muffins, saltines, and banana. Apple sauce made him throw up. He ate blandly for about a week just to play it safe. I also mixed unflavored pedialyte with water... he refused ginger ale.

I'm starting to wonder if A has some kind of stomach thing. She's on antibiotics for an ear infection (started on Monday), but she's thrown up off and on since Sunday, with rough poops in between. I chalked the first puke up to the ear infection and the poops up to the antibiotic, but then on Friday she projectile vomited all over her teacher at daycare again. It's no fun. This is a ROUGH winter for this stuff!

Im guessing this is what has hit our house. In the car LO said her stomach hurt, and then said she stomach and throat hurt and as soon as we got home she threw up a TON all over my chair (fabric chair, because like a cat, of course!). It was so disgusting, I felt so badly for her. It's only like the second time she's ever thrown up (and she doesn't remember the other time), so it was pretty dang traumatic for everyone. Then just before bed, diarrhea :crying:

We're dealing with this right now with the baby. She threw up twice at daycare on Friday, plus had diarrhea. We've had on and off throwing up and awful diapers.

I've been feeling nauseous myself and combatting it with leftover zofran.

Our whole house had it the week before Christmas. No fever and her mood was usually pretty okay despite how sick she was. The adults recovered fast and my 14 month old had it for a solid week with only throwing up the first night. Her poo was either pasty and really foul smelling or diarrhea, 1-2 of them a day. She stopped eating and she barely eats as it is and then day 3 she stopped drinking anything and I offered her everything. I took her to the doctor and emergency room because she wasn't peeing much and woke up with a dry diaper one day and dehydration was scaring me. I told both the doctor and er doctor that dairy seemed to make her have a diarrhea poo quite quickly and they both said that recently there have been studies about the BRAT diet and stuff and it doesn't matter much they said. They both said get her to drink whatever she'll drink. Hey also both said that the electrolyte drinks didn't matter and I could get her to drink it anyway or eat the popsicle form, and to be fair, they don't taste good. Luckily she didn't need any medical intervention, but it was a bit of a hard/scary time for me for a few days.

When she was eating at the beginning I did try the BRAT diet. All she would accept was a small amount of bagel with butter.

That one went through the baby room in our daycare. Like a week of diarrhea but other than that mostly fine. It's a weird one.

Yes. It was terrible. Both my girls had very light almost whitish poops after the throw up and diarrhea stopped, which really freaked me out. But the pediatrician said to just watch and as long as there's a hint of color it's prob ok.

@mrswin: thanks. This looks like where we're heading. What food did you feed her? I'm trying to meal plan bland foods for the week and man it looks boring!

@twodoghouse: oh man. My 9 month old had it very mildly. My husband had it too and felt bad from Tuesday until yesterday. He had body aches, chills, and a low grade fever too. Somehow my oldest son and I haven't gotten it but I'm just waiting. It's awful! Hope you are spared!

Ugh, this just hit us yesterday. Both kids, although DS has it way worse than DD. It's been the grossest 24 hrs of my life. They just started preschool at the beginning of January, so I was expecting an influx of germs, but I was not mentally prepared for this level of disgustingness. I've had all manner of bodily fluids on me in the last day. I'm just hoping DH and I can somehow avoid getting it.

@Canoli: sometimes dairycan be tough on the tummy after a bug. A couple months ago dd had diarrhea several times a day for over two weeks. It sucked! Her pediatrician said they were seeing a lot of diarrhea.

@Canoli: my DD had this a couple weeks ago. Our doctor said the stomach virus that is going around is particularly strong. Her piop was terrible for almost 2 weeks, when we took her in the Dr said that the virus was hard on her gut and prescribed a probiotic to help get things back on track. We have finally seen an improvement in her poop in the last week.

The Dr said that we should restrict her dairy intake as well since it is harder to digest.

I'm losing my mind! This virus is nasty. My 2 year old threw up once last Friday in the middle of the night. He had a few loose poops Saturday morning and then appeared fine until dinner time Sunday night when he had diarrhea. On Monday morning he had 1-2 episodes of diarrhea and that was it. His poops for the next few days were definitely funky which I expected but thought we were in the clear until Friday morning he had an episode of diarrhea again and then again last night. He has been acting his normal self the whole week, drinking lots of fluids and wanting to eat, no fever. I've been googling the heck out of stomach viruses and wondering if he has temporary lactose intolerance.

So I'm going to completely stop dairy and do bland foods for the whole week. I also added a probiotic.

Anyone want to commiserate and/or give me advice on what worked for you!
