What kind of siding? If it’s vinyl I don’t think it will be as loud, we got ours replaced last year and I only remember the roof part being super loud. It was loud like right outside the wall they were working on so disrupted nap a little when it was near my kids room but it wasn’t like impossible to be in the house during the day. Like @caitcat: it did mean we could use our yard at all while they were working.

Yea, it's loud. It would be hard to work and for kiddos to nap. Maybe a car nap would work if you're comfortable with the sitter driving them around.

We just replaced our own siding, and it can get pretty noisy. The loudest part for us was replacing the plywood under the siding, and it sounds like that might not be happening for you. Our house is 1/2 brick though, and most of the siding wasn't terribly disruptive.
My main concern would be anyone who is trying to work that day. I would tell anyone who can to try and not schedule video calls for that day or to call in via phone so they can move to a (potentially) quieter part of the house. It shouldn't be so loud that you can't comfortably watch TV or talk in the house, but nap time might be a challenge. Depending on logistics, maybe plan a scenic drive during nap time, if that's an option?

We had siding, windows, and roof done last summer...a lot of the work was overlapping, so it's hard for me to remember what was what. Some of it was definitely noisy, but I think the roof noise was so much worse than any of the siding work. I was home with my kids for most of the days they were working though, and I don't remember the noise being *too* disruptive, other than the roof. We did spent a lot of time in the basement though, since it seemed quieter down there regardless of what they were working on. The bigger issue for us was our yard was taken over by equipment, materials, and stuff like that for a few days, so we couldn't take the kids out to play safely and they were bummed about that.

I was also surprised that the contractor asked us to take stuff off the walls in the house in case stuff got jostled while they were doing the work. I have no idea if that was necessary or he was just really cautious...but it was something about replacing siding that surprised me so I thought I'd pass it along!

Has anyone ever had their siding replaced? Our homebuilder wants to replace our siding next week. My sitter, kids, and potentially DH will be home at the time. I am wondering how loud it will be.

I really can't push it out. They have been on the hook to replace it for over a year.
