I would occasionally hit it on something accidentally (which was incredibly painful), it would go away and then always come back. It started to hurt and really limit my mobility in my wrist so I had it surgically removed. The dr said they used to recommend the book thing but that I shouldn't do it. Some days it bothers me but for the most part it just looks gross. She told me there was no chance it would become cancerous. I required surgery and a cast after stitches unfortunately. It was complicated because of its location and it was vascular and affected nerves. I think you can also get the fluid drained sometimes. I had it aspirated, but they had to do a MRI first to make sure it wasn't near any nerves. It didn't come back, but there was about a 50% chance it would. They are from being on the crew team. They come and go, and sometimes hurt really bad. I told my doctor at my physical about two years ago and she told me it would go away on its own. It's still there, it didn't grow or anything.
