Just placed them directly on the rack. Didn't really make things easier. </p> <p>I do them like @mediagirl: mentions, but I let my eggs kind of come up to room temperature before putting it in the pot. The shell comes right off! So easy. I find that putting cold eggs into the pot makes the shell harder to peel and sometimes, the shells crack during the boil process. And once the water boils, I remove it from the heat, put the lid on, and wait 10 minutes.
