Just gonna add to this that we bought a Ride Safer vest for cabs/travel and it’s great for taxi rides, etc.

We use one for my three year old when we travel! It is amazing! So small and light. Easy to carry on an airplane. Will be buying a second one when my younger child is old enough.

@Foodnerd81: yeah I guess that my other option is just a heavy harness for permanent use in our car and then a cheaper travel one or a backless. I’m ok with that for limited travel - a bubblebum or mifold backless or something since he does meet height and weight requirements (he’s not even 4yo till sept and he’s 41lbs and 44 inches tall).

@SweetiePie: oh! I forgot the immi go has the harness. Never mind! (We have a britax harness to booster and it’s very big and heavy).

@Foodnerd81: thank you! I’m still looking for something with a harness though since we use it pretty frequently.
I was looking at the Britax options but then thought if I could do something more portable and it’s expensive anyway, maybe I could get away with the immigo as a main seat. 🤔

@SweetiePie: I had posted in this topic a while ago and some people had good ideas- just putting the link here in case it helps. I ended up not getting so have no personal experience but the Graco travel ones sounded really good.

@Anagram: did you ever end up getting the immigo? Ds 2 is currently in an infant bucket but DS1 is a large almost 4yo so I’m thinking about just getting a booster for him and eventually baby goes into his convertible.
But we have a car in the city. So I’m actually considering using it as our main booster! We drive often in the summer (jersey shore) and during the school year maybe 2-3 times a month. Longer suburb trips.
It would live in the car and I’d take it out for travel.

Anyway just wondering if you got it, are happy with it for travel and if you ended up actually using it as a more permanent solution.

I have one! Totally worth the money, too. We travel a fair bit as well and bit the bullet when we went on a multi-destination trip last year. Easy to travel with due to its small profile (I've checked it/carried it on), cinch to install and no complaints from LO! We got it when she was 2.5 and have used it multiple times since. I will say that it's not conducive at all to naps on the go, since it doesn't recline in any way and the head rests aren't very deep but a minor trade off in my opinion. LO did take naps in it, one of us just had to prop her head up :)

I will say IMMI Go's customer service was above and beyond. I ordered the seat, realized it wouldnt arrive before we left on our multi week trip, and they worked with me to expedite shipment to Hawaii and even split the additional cost with me!!!! Needless to say, I highly recommend.

@Foodnerd81: yeah, I trust carseatlady, too. I'm thinking about emailing her and asking what she thinks about it being used as a second car seat after age 3. Not sure if I see much difference between it and any other 5 point harness seat, which are supposed to be fine. I know by 3, I will definitely be ffing my LO anyway.

@Anagram: when I looked at it I thought surely it wasn't as safe as a proper car seat. But the car seat lady is really strict and if she likes it (after 2 years old) I don't know. For a car you don't use as much maybe?

@Anagram: We used one a few times as part of uber family ride while we visited NYC the month my son turned two. He was still RF at home at the time (and still is at 33 months). I don't think that I would feel comfortable using it as a full time seat, but it was better than holding a child in a taxi and when we couldn't take the subways. Car seat safety is a big priority for me as a parent (and someone who drives a lot), so I tend to go for more "best practice" guidelines rather than the minimum.

@Anagram: Check this one out, though it isn't immediately available yet: http://www.mifold.com/

I think its so cool! I will probably get one once they start shipping.

Oops just realized it is suitable for kids 4+, so not quite what you're looking for.

@Foodnerd81: yeah, it is a lot. I'm also wondering if it's safe enough to one day use full time as a harnessed booster....like when baby 2 moves to a convertible and baby 1 is more than 3 years old..

Does it seem like something that could be used daily (or sometimes) in 1 car (we now have 2 cars, and we used to be a 1 car family)?

That looks pretty awesome. $200 is a lot for a travel car seat, but it would be so convenient in so many situations. Think how way car pooling would be!

This folding 5 point harness-to-booster looks pretty awesome. We're looking for a travel seat for our 2 year old, who fits the height and weight requirements of the Immi Go. And I love that it seems so foolproof and quick to install in taxis, etc. And that it can go in the overhead bin of an airplane!

We tend to travel a few times a year, and sometimes have to take taxis and our Foonf is not conducive to any of that. Has anyone used one of these?
