I started EASY right around 4 weeks and LOVED it. I wasn't really trying to fix any issues - just trying to get into a set routine. The one thing that I loved about EASY though is it got us right from the beginning of not nursing to sleep and I think it's part of the reason Xander's been able to self-soothe from such an early age!

I liked the book and thought alot of it made sense before my baby was actually born. Then she arrived and it sort of went out the window. Every so often I'd give EASY another try but I think I just ended up making life more difficult for both of us because I'd get really stressed out when we messed up the order. She just really liked nursing to sleep. It definitely seems to work for some babies though so it's worth a shot.

I tried and failed. Feeding nearly always put my daughter to sleep. For the first month or so I had to fight to keep her awake while feeding long enough to get a good feed in. So our schedule (due to my attempts) was more like ESEA.

I did EASY from the very beginning and credit it to being the reason my LO has always been able to go to sleep on his own. We have never needed to sleep train.

Granted, he still woke up for one feed a night until 12 months (went right back to sleep immediately after) and we have dealt with our fair share of milestone related regressions, but in terms of things we could control, I definitely think it helped a lot. I plan to follow the same guidelines with baby #2 and am praying it works just as well the second time around.

ETA: One easy way we implemented this from the very beginning was we always changed his diaper after he ate, even if he needed to go right back to sleep with no awake time (he was a preemie and in the beginning he didn't have any awake time...it slowly lengthened over time). Changing his diaper woke him up just enough that when we laid him down he was drowsy but awake, and he had practice falling asleep on his own from the start. I made an effort to not ever nurse him to sleep from day 1, and by doing this I think it encouraged him to take full feedings, and he learned to fall asleep in his bed. I do think starting from the very beginning was helpful to us, as I think these things are much harder to start once baby has already developed patterns. But he also never cried when I put him in his bed, so you definitely have to go with what works for your kiddo.

We did "easy" right from the beginning. Sometimes wake was reaaaaaallllllly short at the beginning but we never nursed to sleep.

I haven't ready the book but we did EASY at the suggestion of our ped from 5-10 weeks. It worked well until we had unrelated eating issues (reflux/allergies).

I'm finishing the Baby Whisperer book and overall really liked it. I think it's well written, easy to read, and I think her advice makes sense. Has anyone followed her advice, and her EASY method (even if loosely) with success?

When did you start implementing her advice? What was you/your LOs issue, and how did you resolve it? How long did it take? (Book says 3 days, but I find that hard to believe! )
