We have a boat and started taking W on it when she was 14 months old. I don't really have any more advice because I think you have everything covered... it seems like R is going to have a really great time!

ETA: We have a sun umbrella that spikes into the ground and it has been a life saver. Most of the beaches around here are sloped so sun tents don't really work. But with this umbrella we can just spike it into the sand and DD can play in the sand/rocks/water all afternoon. And it packs up easily.

We're headed to the lake to hang with DH's family this summer. It's HOT where we're going (think 100+) and this will be DD's first time on a boat. she will be 19 months.

we have a lifevest and we've tested it with LO, DH is a former lifeguard and all his family takes safety seriously. i'm kinda nervous about it as i think about it more, but this is how DH grew up, so i'm looking forward to the trip (we've gone before, just not since DD arrived)

we stay in a local hotel, then leave early every morning for the lake. we set up a camp on the shore and then people come and go as they want to wake board, etc. i imagine DD being in the boat for going from/to the dock and camp and then hanging out at the shore while we wakeboard. she loves the water (beaches and pools).

any suggestions a) for keeping LO cool. b) keeping her out all day (tent with fan & travel crib?) c) lake toys/floaties d) safety items i'm not thinking of.

i realize not everyone would do this with a toddler, but not looking for those opinions. :)
