I don't know... not that far along yet, but a doctor I work with suggested this for me when I told him about my previous bad experience with (non child-bearing related) epidural.

He's seen a few women get this instead of epidural and says it's a good option for me since I'm so against another epidural.

I haven't done it so I don't think I am much help but I would like to add that next to the contractions, pushing felt nice to me. I barely felt the pain of her coming out because, for me at least, it was so minor compared to the contractions.

One month until my due date; we just spent three night in a row at the hospital, between pre-natal classes and visit of the maternity ward...

My biggest fear about labor is not the contractions... It's the pain of pushing the baby out of me and tearing.

I am going to try and have my baby as naturally as possible, as long as it doesn't affect my baby negatively. But, if the pain of pushing becomes unmanageable, I just learned today about pudendal nerve blocks, which seems like the perfect pharmalogical pain relief for me, should I need to go there.

Has anyone had that? Did it work? Any side effects that you didn't like? Tell me everything!
