@LaughLines: Well, at the end I was doing only frozen IVF cycles so I was working on lining the whole cycle time! I just left the office but I have a spreadsheet on my work computer where I tracked all E2 levels and how that tied to my lining. I'd be happy to get that info to you if it might be helpful?

@LaughLines: I haven't read this blog, but I like this graphic

https://disorderlychickadee.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/menstrual_cycle.jpg?w=258

You need a drop in estrogen around ovulation time, but then it does build some post peak and the uterine lining continues to thicken.

@Mrs. Starfish: i have pcos too and respond well to clomid and femera, but last month is the first time i didn't confirm ovulation through ultrasound or progesterone test, and since it was such a weak opk I'm now questioning if i did ovulate. Maybe I'm overthinking it

What part of the cycle did you try tip increase your lining? Before or after o?

@LaughLines: I'm so sorry you're on the thin lining boat. To make you feel better, I would have been THRILLED with a 6.5mm lining and I eventually became pregnant on a lining that measured only 5.3mm (AND had fluid!). I think docs make a much bigger deal about lining than they should... and I think it gets so much attention from them because it's measurable, you know?

I've never heard that extra estrogen can stunt the follicle or ovulation, but I don't know too much about that because I also had PCOS and always needed "help" to ovulate. Sorry I can't be more helpful with that!

@MaryM: ugh... Everything i read said to do it in the first half because that's when lining is building up, then after o it declines.

My doc is no help, they don't give any advice on natural stuff

@LaughLines: I'm not sure if it's related to the effects of estrogen on ovulation or not, but my doctor only has me supplement estrogen in the second half of my cycle.

It's never been seen that I have thin lining (my last ultrasound, which was right around peak, my OB said it was good), but I have a history of low estrogen. I take Femara at the beginning of cycles, and then HCG and estradiol post peak to get estrogen and progesterone up to acceptable levels.

@Mrs. Starfish: i think i may have thin lining (6.5mm 2 months ago) so last month i tried some natural remedies (pom juice, flax seed, soy foods) and i worry i didn't ovulate. My opk was never fully positive and i read that extra estrogen that helps the lining can stunt the follicle. Any ideas about that?

( last month i didnt get an ultrasound due to timing so I'm not sure what my lining was or how big my follicle was)

@snowjewelz: Yes, I totally get it. It is so heart-breaking even when you have the cause. Infertility is the worst, and definitely let me know if I can help in any way.

I'm thinking maybe I'll do a post on natural thin lining remedies since so many people worry about this problem!

@LBee: Ah, that's so amazing that she got pregnant! Yay!

My best friend did! I actually walled the fabulous @Mrs. Starfish about it at the time. If you have any specific questions, I'm happy to relay them. Her situation was a little more complicated, but her issues with IVF were all related to the thin lining. She did estrogen patches and drank TONS of red raspberry leaf tea.

She did eventually get pregnant (didn't use surrogate, although considered it).

@Mrs. Starfish: Thank you for the offer! I don't want to bombard her with questions, but I will let you know if I get more details. It is hard; b/c on one hand she's really happy that they found the "cause" and a way to "fix" it but like you said, sometimes that ends up not working out still...

I had extensive lining issues over three years. My specific problem was thin lining. Happy to help your friend with advice if it would be helpful, but I will warn you also that my issues were REALLY extensive and eventually required a surrogate. So it might scare her to talk to me. Let me know though. For what it's worth, I've never heard of a shot of estrogen "fixing" lining, but maybe her particular lining issue is different than mine was.

My friend recently changed doctors and this one took a sample of her lining and took a closer look and said that was the problem (before she had a fibroid, then PCOS, then just unexplained...) She had get an estrogen shot that basically would reset everything and hopefully new/better lining would come in. Anyone had similar experiences?
