@Goldilocks1107: Hope you're doing OK! I know you said you'd post from your phone but a lot of hospitals don't have any reception. Hope you're holding your LO right now!

@pastemoo: if you know your info as far as dilation, effacement, etc, you can figure out your own. I also talked to my OB about my score at her office, the day she wanted to induce because it was my hope not to have to have a c-section. My score was really favorable even though I wasn't dilated much, due to the other factors the Bishop score includes.

@erinpye: Who did your bishop score? Your OB at their office, or the hospital?

You're already being induced by now! But, for anyone else who might be reading with the same question, I was induced and I was 1.5 dilated, 90% effaced, thin soft cervix and posterior. I didn't have to have cervadil and was holding my baby girl, delivered vaginally, 9 hours after pitocin started. The best indicator of successful induction is to find out what your Bishop score is. Good luck! Thinking of you!

I was at 5cm when I was induced, but 6.5 hours later I was only at a 6. It took a super long time to get things moving. However, my induction didn't fail and my labor was 14 hours all together.

My cousin spent three days in the hospital to be induced and it failed. She couldn't have a c section or epidural for medical reasons. They sent her home and two weeks later tried again. The second time around was successful.

I didn't have a failed induction but wasn't much farther than you when it was started (first time mom too). I was 2cm dilated and probably 80% effaced (don't remember that they ever told me or if I even asked). I was stared on pitocin at 8AM, I got the epidural at 12PM (I was 4cm dilated), they broke my water around 1PM, I got checked at 2PM (8cm dilated), I started pushing around 4:30PM (10cm, fully effaced) and DD was born at 4:54PM. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

I was at 42 weeks, dialated 1/2 cm and between 80-90% effaced when I went in. Cervidil for 12 hours, which got me fully effaced, but maybe to 1cm. We started Pitocin, it went really slow in the beginning, but around 12 hours in everything went pretty fast from there, and we had a baby (vaginally) 15 hours later.

I just posted my detailed birth story, but I was induced at 1 cm. After an overnight dose of cervidil, I was still only 1 cm. Had misoprostyl, then pitocin started at noon. Baby girl was born vaginally just before 9 p.m.

Wishing things go well for you!

1 cm, my induction took 22 hours total. The MD used 3 doses of cytotec, contractions started about 20 minutes after the 3 dose was administered. Good Luck!

I was 0cm when I was induced with cervidil. The first dose didn't do much and I was given another dose. Contractions started later that day. Eventually ended up with a emergency C-section.

I didnt (I had a c-section without attempt at labor or induction) but my friend was 1cm and about 20% effaced and it totally failed. It didnt thin her or dilate her at all after 2 attempts in 24 hours, so she had a section

I had a failed induction. My cervix was closed when they started. They first gave me cervidil and that was left in over night and then the next morning they started me on a low dose of pitocin. After 24 hours my cervix was still closed and I was having minor contractions.
I had complications with extremely low amniotic fluid so they couldnt send me home since I needed to be monitored.

@Goldilocks1107: So, you're a first time mom, right? Doesn't effacement normally come before dilation? I think inductions are to help you start dilating so, if that's the case, I'm hoping it will work for you! You're almost 100% there on the effacement so hopefully the induction will just give you the little push you need to start dilating more!! I'm excited for you and hope it works!!

So...tonight at 8pm? I'll be thinking about you!

I'm scheduled for an induction in 12 hours and my OB said if I don't make enough progress after 24 hours, I'll probably be sent home (which at this stage is still preferable to a c-section for me).

Since I didn't make any dilation progress in the past 3 weeks (still at 1cm 70-80% effaced) I'm worried that I'm a textbook case for a failed induction.

So, I figured I'd bring it to Hellobee.

When you were induced, what was your dilation/effacement and was the induction successful? Or were you sent home to wait it out (or get wheeled in for a c-setion)?
