I am absolutely no help at all :meh: I feel like everything is a phase and we pretty much allow all sleep crutches (lol) and ** knock on wood ** K mostly falls asleep by herself and STTN! I always get her.

@winniebee: Yep, my DD (12m) has always gone down with no nursing and wide awake and until recently woke up once or twice at night. Now if she doesn't eat or drink enough or is sick she still wakes. She'll STTN otherwise. The times she wakes to eat (nurse) she'll really eat big amounts. So for now I just roll with it and figure she'll stop soon.

K was waking around 5 or 6, but lately it's been 4:30. When she wakes I'll nurse her and bring her back to bed with us for the last hour or so.

She actually started doing something similar for naps and will wake up after 20 mins, but she'll fall asleep with us on the couch for another hour.

Basically we've fallen into a trap where when she wakes up she refuses to go back to sleep on her own.

We sort of waited it out, sort of did CIO for that last stubborn wake up. I gave her a solid 10-15 minutes of crying before I went in to get her, and often she would fall back to sleep in the meantime. But she dropped that last waking for good at about 16 months.

@winniebee: haha last night was at 9. The time before was 2-3x a night for about 2 weeks?...anywhere from 9pm - 4am...She wakes up around 4am often and I always ignore her unless she doesn't stop after 15 minutes.

It is very easy for me to let her cry MOTN because I'm tired, half asleep, and cranky.

A was doing that. I needed to just cut it off and let her CIO. She started STTN again and last night woke up an hour after falling aslee crying hysterically. I went in to console her thinking something was wrong, poop, etc. Nada. She's crying right now and I've been letting her go for almost 20 minutes. She's still screaming so I might go in soon....

@winniebee: even if he replaces himself, it may still be enough to wake him? I'm not sure. Neither of my boys really took a paci, but I can imagine it being disorienting to fall asleep with one in and wake up without.

Me..? Maybe? I'm not quite sure what you mean by sleep crutches. My LO hasn't eaten MOTN since she was 2 months old. And as of 6 mo she went to bed without being rocked or anything. Even so, from 6-10 mo or so she was up a lot. Like anywhere from 2-6 times/night. From 10-14 mo she was MOSTLY only waking once/night, around 4:30-5am. Most nights she would need rocked back to sleep at that point if I wanted her to go back to sleep.

Then at 14 mo she decided she didn't want to be rocked anymore. I'd try and shed just try and wiggle away. So the next night we let her CIO motn (bc I don't know what else to do if she wouldn't let us rock her anymore). Took like 40 min of on/off crying and she fell asleep. Next night she woke and cried maybe 10 min on/off. Ever since she has still often woken once or twice/night but she puts herself back to sleep now unless she is sick.

R is 13 months and goes to bed without a peep. We just do bath, jamies, sleep sack, book, cuddles and song, white noise, paci. But he still wakes up at night. We are down to nursing once a day (and previously it was first thing in the morning / early morning 5:30 am.....and admittedly I do it in hopes that he will go back to sleep) and now that once a day is MOTN because he is so stubborn. He goes down for naps wide awake too, and goes to sleep within 15 mins of babbling or very mild fussing. Takes normal naps. He sleeps through the night occasionally (did it for 3 weeks starting at 12 months) but the last few weeks has been waking most nights.

Do you think I need to just do flat out CIO at this point? Ferber?
