I will just die if my 2nd labor is longer. My first was 3 days from early labor to giving birth. We finally had to accept pitocin b/c in all that time my body refused to produce contractions that were consistently less then 5 minutes apart -- even after having myw water broken at 5 cm. I'm kind of terrified that the second experience will be just like the first :-(

@NYCaliMama: I was at 9 when I got to the hospital and was ready to push soon after. I had a cervical lip that was threatening to rupture while pushing, so I got an epi at 10 to make myself stop. Some days I regret it, and some days I don't.

I had long labors for both, 31 & 44 hours! Second was longer though. My MW and I thought that may have been due to it being the first time my body had naturally labored as the first was basically induced and then pushed by augmentation. Hopefully next time will be atleast a tad shorter although I've known a good handful of natural moms that had more prodromal labor with their subsequent children. Boo! lol

My first labor (from early labor to baby being born) was 26 hours. So I'm definitely hoping it's shorter the next time around!

My second labor was 6 hours too, but there was no time for an epi for me. I didn't want one anyway, but it was the fact that I got to the hospital at 9.5cm that mattered more. I delivered soon after I was checked in... like, within 15 mins? I was just waiting for them to move me into a proper room and set everything up. 2nd time moms tend to have pretty short pushing times, too. I pushed twice!

My mom had three kids though and each labor was longer and longer than the last. You just never know.

My 2nd labor was 1/3 of the time. Had an epi both times!

I've always been told that first labors are the longest and they get shorter after that. My first was 6 hours from first contraction to 10 cm. I'm hoping that my next labors will be short enough that there's no time for an epi! Did anyone have a longer labor for #2+?
