The doctor explained that their bones are so soft that it just bent a little and needed a cast for 3 weeks. It was hazard but we got through it. I didn’t even know it was broken for two days until my husband pulled up her sleeve one night and she started screaming. She was three, and we knew from the moment she fell it was broken - she was screaming in excruciating pain, her arm was bent, and she was passing out in the car on the way to the ED from the pain.</p> <p>Having it set was traumatic, but after that....she was in good shape in a few days. We got a waterproof cast, and while I was terrified of her falling and re-injuring it (so she couldn't swing, slide, or really climb much)...she was back to herself pretty quickly, and had almost forgotten she was wearing a cast by the end. For such little kids, they'll remove the cast in 3-4 weeks if they're doing well - so if you do end up opting to cast, know that it'll be very short lived, and definitely ask for waterproof lining -it's only an extra $100-$150 (generally insurance won't cover it, so they sometimes don't offer it in the office if you don't ask). </p> https://boards.hellobee.com/topic/anyone-have-a-toddler-with-a-broken-wrist#post-2790214 Tue, 05 Dec 2017 16:58:52 +0000 Dahlia 2790214@https://boards.hellobee.com/ <p>X-ray showed only a possible very very tiny fracture, so they sent us home with a splint and an ace bandage. Casts are the worst part, I know someone who had theirs taken off a little earlier than ideal because it just wouldn't fit right.</p> <p>I hope she's feeling better. It happens. She was in a full leg cast for part of summer. Kids are adaptable! I hope she is feeling better! </p> <p>I don't have any first hand experience (DD is only 12 mo), but we have a friend whose 3 yr old son broke his leg over the summer. It was at his birthday party, he was just dancing around the living room and stepped wrong. She cried pretty much until she fell asleep, saying that her wrist hurt. She was up every hour last night (not saying that she hurt, just crying) and this morning she says it still hurts and she won't use it. </p> <p>We have a doctor's appointment in an hour and I'm guessing it might be broken. Anyone have any experience? Tell me any stories to make me feel better about this? </p>
