@ladybee: not that I know of. It may be related to hashimoto's as they are both autoimmune.

@MrsH: Here is one of the articles I read, but I'm having a hard time finding the others: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21751884.

I'm not sure how much credibility there is behind this, but I find this video interesting and here is his website that also has some interesting information: http://www.drjoealaimo.com/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KX08cfVpRPM

I particularly find the article about Hashi's leading to other autoimmune disease interesting. There was a mama on one of my food allergy groups that had it and breastfed on an extreme TED and not too long after stopping found out she had MS. So scary!

@MrsH: Sorry! I am so bad with names and remembering stuff like that, even in real life lol. I will look for them when I get on a real computer, hopefully this evening and send them to you.

Endo just called and it's 12 more weekss of weekly 50000 IU and another round of blood work. It took 6 months last time to get it up 10 points, so I can only imagine how long to raise it from 14.

I was diagnosed Vitamin D insufficient by my RE a few months ago and he put me on 2000 a day. I haven't been retested since though and I also have a mild case of hypothyroidism. Plus I live in Oregon, and like Canada, I think most of us are Vit D deficient due to lack of sunshine.

I don't know if that helps... I'm in Europe, so we probably have different medication.... I have something that has similar effects as Hashimoto's and the „regular“ vitamin D pills didn't work... so my doc put me on Vitamin D-oil. I had a high dosage for like 2 weeks and am now on 1500.

@MrsH: I have Hashimoto's. I have read some research articles that suggested when you are hypothyroid your body does not absorb the d as well and levels should be kept closer to 50.

I was diagnosed as low a few years ago and haven't been tested after that. I was told to take 5000/day, but later the same doc told me that was too much and I should take 2000 (!?). Anyway, later my acupuncturist told me that 5000/day for the winter is good.

I just had my vitamin d levels rechecked and they came back at 14!

When my initial d deficiency diagnosis was made my levels were 20 and my endo put me on a regime of 50000 IU D weekly. After 3 months it only went up to 22 and in another 3 months to 30 at which point she changed me to a daily regime of 2000 IU D3. That was in September...so from September until now it dropped like crazy!! I know it is typical for people's D to drop over the winter months, but that much and while taking a supplement? I have not talked to my endo yet, just saw the results online.

Anyone else deal with this? Was it determined that you did not respond to supplementation?
