He is constantly smiling and will go to just about everyone. He sleeps pretty well at night and as of a few weeks ago naps well, too. </p> <p>He used to be a terrible napper. Terrible. He used to not eat well but that was a reflux/MSPI issue and we have that under control. She is a very easy baby. I can only compare her to friends and my nephew. She only cries when hungry, dirty or uncomfortable. For her first 4 months, she spit up a lot but that was a laundry problem, not a health problem. She just was content to smile and look around at the world. We didn't have the best time breastfeeding at first but that wasn't her fault, we had to work at it. It certainly didn't make her a fussy baby - she never cried even when she wasn't getting much from me!</p> <p>She's still an easy baby now at 5 months. We are very, very lucky. She's not STTN but I really don't think she should be yet. He's really energetic though, so he's not a baby that will fall asleep if there's something going on, like if we're at my parents' house or in a hotel room. She's never cried without us knowing why she is crying or without us being able to calm her almost immediately. DD didn't start sleeping through the night until around 8 - 10 weeks and then she went from 5 hr stretches to 11 hr stretches in a matter of a couple of weeks! Also, I swear by probiotics; DD used to have painful gas but we started probiotics around 6 weeks of age and they sorted all of her tummy issues out almost immediately. Just brilliant. The first couple months... If she was awake, she was screaming but she was a good sleeper. At 3 months, she just woke up one day and was a different baby. </p> <p>Now, shes super happy and laid-back. Shes not at all clingy unless she doesnt feel well. She has no separation anxiety. She always has a smile on her face. She sleeps awesome and naps great now too. I would say that we have it pretty easy. </p> <p>I can imagine she wont always be like this though. Our nickname for him is literally Mr. Sunshine! He is full of HUGE smiles and giggles.</p> <p>He naps well, goes between bottle and breast with no issue, sleeps as well as a 3 month old can - and he looovvveeess to sleep in, just like his mama (seriously. we get up for the day around 11:30-12, and it is the ONLY reason I am not a emotional sleep deprived wreck).</p> <p>AND. She's a brilliant sleeper who puts herself down and stays down for 11 hr stretches. She's been a good eater but we're about to start solids in a few weeks so we'll see how that goes. And she has a wonderful attention span - she's happy to play on the floor or her play mat for an hour at a time and does not require constant attention from us (although we do give her a lot of attention of course!). She's also a pretty happy baby most of the time - she rarely cries unless there is something wrong or it's past her 6 pm bedtime and we're somewhere other than home. </p> <p>I was a bit worried that she'd be a difficult baby as I was apparently terrible - colicky and constantly screaming for the first 6 months of my life. I'm so glad DD is the complete opposite! We are very grateful to have such an easy baby and it's not something we take lightly as we know so many people who can't say the same!</p> <p>ETA: This post sounds like it's all sunshine and rainbows, but it's not! For one, she is just not a napper. She only naps 30 minutes at a time, and she fights naps all the time. Since she doesn't get enough daytime sleep, she's always exhausted by bed time. Tonight I had to deal with a screaming meltdown when she totally lost it b/c I took away her washcloth for 2 seconds during bathtime. He has a good reputation around our family since he has twin cousins that are higher maintenance (not bad, just normal). </p> <p>With every baby there are bumps though- his sleep has been crap lately. We are struggling with getting back to sleeping through the night and sleeping through the night in his own crib (a couple vacations and getting sick erased all of that). Like 20 hours a day, nonstop screaming. The only time he wasn't screaming was when he was taking tiny cat naps through the day and when he was nursing, and he would apparently nurse for only like 5 minutes at a time. Until he was 10 months old, and started walking one day, and then it was over. No one ever had an explanation for it, but all of my ILs are scarred from it, lol (this was before I met DH). </p> <p>So whenever I think Evan is being difficult I think about Ethan. He's definitely demanding...he hates not being held. With everyone other than me he wants to be held vertically, which the person holding him is standing up. Today I haven't been able to put him down at all, and I won't lie, it's making me crazy. If I put him down for more than a minute he's he'll start screaming until he's bright red and sweating...and then as soon as I pick him up he's fine. But it could always be worse, lol.</p> <p>By the way, Ethan is now 6 and has the lowest, most gravely, lifelong smoker voice I've ever heard from a child.
