I went to the hospital bevause I had awful stomach pain. Long story short, either my stomach pain jump started labor or it was part of labor. The major crying pain stopped mostly, but I continued to have regular contractions and dilate to a 1cm. The nurse said she could feel my contractions getting stronger. I walked all night and they gave me a sleeping pill because I was hurting and when I woke up, bye bye contractions. They sent me home and I had to be induced one week later. I still don't know wtf that was.

Besides that, I had a lot of major false labor. Sometimes I swore it was the real thing. They would hurt and seem to be getting closer together, but then the next one would be painless or be way out of the expected time frame.

Yep, had prodromal labor with both, for weeks. It took me from a 1cm to a 3cm with my second, over 1 weekend of some pretty big contractions though, so take heart that it's still doing something! It can be tough, hang in there

@MapleMoose: @Mrs. Jump Rope: @BeachMama: @mrskc ugh that must have been so frustrating! But it's good to know that this happens to others so I won't get my hopes up.

This happened to me with my second so it totally threw me off and got me excited. They were timetable contractions that felt like menstrual cramps. Definitely different than BH. Happened a few times in the 4-5 days leading up to my daughters birth. It was so frustrating and disappointing when they would get farther apart and eventually stop.

My doula kept reminding me that it was getting my body ready in some way and it will make actual labor and delivery easier. That comforted me a little. Hang in there! Hopefully the real deal starts soon!

This happened to me for about 4 nights before having DD. Each night got stronger. By the last night I was up all night with very painful contractions in my back. They got to be 1 minute long, 5 minutes apart so at 7am we headed to the hospital.....only to have them stop again in the car. I'd only had about 2 hrs of sleep over 3 days, so I was exhausted and heartbroken. My OB agreed to induce (I was 4cm dilated). Long story short, I ended with a c-section. I can't know if she would've come on her own if I waited another day or two, but I honestly couldn't have survived another night without sleep (my exhaustion was part of the reason for the c-section)

I hope yours get more regular. Hang in there!

I had prodromal labor for weeks with my second. It was the worst at night & we had two or three false alarms. I delivered at 39w at my scheduled csection.

I debated posting because it's probably not what you want to hear so I apologize if I bum you out lol...
I had this with my first and now again the second pregnancy. There were/are episodes with timable contractions with a pattern and loss of bits of my mucus plug. Sometimes the contractions lasted for hours being 10-15 or 15-20 minutes apart but always tapered off and eventually stopped. Changing positions or activity level didn't affect them and the contractions came in waves that wrapped around my torso with menstrual type cramps and lower back pain. I kept getting excited that finally this was it but I ended up being induced 10 days past my due date with a completely closed cervix. Go figure. I am hoping that this time these episodes are the real deal.

No personal experience, but I've read a lot of birth stories and seems like this does happen. Eventually it doesn't stop and then it's the real thing.

I had false labor with regular contractions for hours that just stopped. Went to the hospital once and was sent home. It was at 39weeks and a couple days. Went into labor at 40+2. Good luck! Hope it's soon for you!

This is kind of driving me crazy so I want to know if others have experienced this.

I'm 39w5d. Yesterday I started having menstrual-type cramps in my lower abdomen in the evening which I have not had before during this pregnancy. I thought they were BH but I noticed they would come and go and happen in somewhat regular intervals (like 12-20min apart, lasting 30-60sec). I did have BH throughout the pregnancy which consisted of a tightening sensation but no pain, and these cramps were definitely painful (like I had to stop what I was doing and change my breathing until it passed). So I thought that these were the real thing and got all excited.

However they did not get any closer together as the night went on and then after this morning, they just stopped completely. I did have blood-tinged discharge for the first time this morning.

No cramps whatsoever until this evening, and at almost the same exact time as yesterday, the cramps started again but just like yesterday are not getting stronger or closer together. WTH? I thought early labor is supposed to progress not start and then stop... Very frustrating.

Anyone else had this experience and if so when did real labor actually start?
