My good friend was born with club foot in 1977. She had a procedure to correct it. You would never know - she was a college athlete.

I'm a practitioner that deals with adults who have club foot and with surgery, lots of cases you wouldn't know. Orthotics, braces and alternative footwear are options if needed but the treatment outcome is so good, most younger adults I see now have no lasting issues.

My friend had one foot like that and had a brace that resolved it fairly quickly.

One of our friends' LOs was born with two club feet. He got casts at ~4 wks and they were changed out every couple of weeks for the first few months. After that, they gave him a brace. Over time, he's able to spend less time in it. Now he just sleeps in it at night. It's amazing how little it impacts him now. He crawls with his brace on and pulls up without any issues. He just turned one, and is on track with all of his milestones so far. They don't expect any long term complications either. It definitely adds some complexity to an already difficult period, but generally I think the outcomes are pretty good. Best of luck!

I had a friend who had twins and one of them had club feet. She was in a brace for the first 12 weeks that helped straighten them out. I am not sure if they had to do surgery or not but I will find out and post again.

One of my best friends in middle school was born with a club foot. She had surgery after she was born for her foot and then had to have surgery after 8th grade to correct an issue with her leg.

My brother was born with a club foot. He had a pin placed shortly after birth to help correct it.

My mom still talks about the worst part being having to travel to the doctor (the specialist was about an hour away) to have the foot re-casted every other week. Because babies grow SO fast they have to constantly adjust the cast. This was back int eh 90's, maybe there is better technology now.

Anyways, my brother plays all kinds of sports now and never had an issue after he had the treatment as a baby.

I'm sorry that I"m not really any help but my SIL's brother's son was born with club feet. They knew about it in utero so they were able to plan for it. I know that he had surgery pretty soon after he was born to start correcting and was in a cast for awhile. That being said, he's 4 now and has no last effects. You wouldn't be able to tell if you didn't know.

One of my best friends is pregnant with her first, and they found out that their baby girl is likely to have club feet. Wondering if anyone has experience with this and might be willing to connect with her. They're about 18 weeks along and still going through testing, but starting to think about what they should be mindful of asap. Thank you!
