My friend had two girls and both were born with club feet. They both wore boots in a brace type thing (she called them snowboard boots, that what they looked like)! Her older one had to were them longer than her younger, so the older girl did need some physical therapy for a little bit to work in standing and walking. But you'd never know it now! (They are 2 and 4). It was a pain for my friend but the girls don't know the difference!

@coopsmama: no personal experience, but here is some info. Some of it is specific to the hospital I work at, but may still be helpful for your friend to check out:

I have an acquaintance who's daughter has club foot and I honestly had no idea for the longest time. She's had multiple surgeries. Wears a lot of skate shoes (I think they're easiest to slip on). I haven't seen her actual foot, but I would never know just to look at her.

I had one. I wore a cast for awhile. Would have to ask myself mum for specifics. I also started ice skating at age 2 so the supportive shoe helped. I know my mum thinks skating is what strengthened it. I've had perfect (meaning they look the same and normal) feet for as long as I can remember. Hope that sort of reassures her.

My sister in law's brother dealt with this with his son. He had surgery to correct.

A good friend went through this with her daughter. They used the Ponseti method. ponseti.info. My husband was born with club foot and also wore a brace of some kind as a baby. Now he is totally fine and exercises, runs, etc. although one leg is slightly thinner than the other leg.

My good friend just found out at her anatomy scan on Monday that her baby has a club foot. Apparently this is a common birth defect and the treatments for it are well established and have great results.

Does anyone have any personal experience with this? I know she would really appreciate hearing from people who have dealt with this. I thought if anyone had I could point her in the direction of this thread. :)
