I didn't have hives due to a virus but I did break out in hives around 14 weeks in my first pregnancy. I went to my OB who referred me to a dermatologist. None of them had very good solutions and I continued to have terrible outbreaks the rest of my pregnancy. 5 years later I still get hives quite frequently, but they're mostly triggered by heat. (Sweating, hot showers/baths, any part of my body that I sleep on).

I've never got a clear cut answer but I'm convinced it was due to hormones. Random, but my dental hygienist told me she had hives for years after having her first child.

But my daughter just had a yucky virus and broke out in the most painful looking hives. It's definitely possible it's a virus.

Im sorry. My immune system went crazy when I was pregnant with my second and got into a patch of poison ivy. It was Nuts and spread everywhere. I agree it sounds viral.

I'm 22 weeks pregnant with my third and our house was hit with some kind of viral plague this week. Everyone recovered quickly except me (fevers, body aches, vomiting) and I'm gotten a flu test (negative) and some IV fluids and zofran from urgent care. I was feeling a little better last night and then noticed a few hives (raised, itchy, red, wheals) on my arms before bed. I took some Bendryl and went to bed and this morning they're everywhere! Covering both arms and my back and a few scattered ones on my legs and feet. I talked to the NP in my OB's office this morning and she suggested maybe it was PUPPS, but it's not on my abdomen at all and came on SO suddenly and with this terrible virus. I'm not convinced. Anyone have a similar experience?
