When one of them passes we'll stick with two. Three is just too many with DS.</p> <p>We brought #3 (Zelda) home as a kitten and the transition for the other cats was rough. Penny hissed and tried to attack the baby for weeks, and lashed out at our other cat (Kai) as well as me and DH. She eventually came around, but it took time. Kai was really freaked out by it all for the first week or so, but he came around fast. Zelda seemed pretty unperturbed by it all. But my brother &amp; his wife have 4 cats and they all came home at different times. One female &amp; three males (all fixed). The males all really like each other and will cuddle. One was a pet, from my parents and the other two were feral kittens that we found. DH couldn't give them away, so they're ours. I loved it, and it was a pretty easy transition from 2 to 3. Going from 1 to 2 is like going from 1 to 20. But going from 2-3 is not as big a deal. That's what I'd guess at least. I grew up with 3 cats, but they were all different in age, and none of them got along. So knowing that they would be close in age, I think it would be perfect. I would just make sure that you have at least 2 litter boxes. Other than that I think it would be great if you took one of their cats! How great of you to do that. Stanley is about 7 months old and Oliver is about 5 months. Both are already neutered, indoor cats and they get along well. We are overseas military (relevant, I promise) and we are moving home to the states in a little over a year. Our boys will be coming with us.</p> <p>My neighbor was just informed that they are moving back stateside on short notice. They have 2 large dogs and 3 cats and they are being forced to rehome the kitties. She has asked me if I would like their youngest kitten, another male who is around 3-4 months old. This new cat is super sweet and extremely affectionate and already LOVES me. This neighbor is a good friend and the cat already knows me. </p> <p>Question.... How big of a transition was it from 2 cats to 3? Did it make a huge difference? Do we officially qualify as crazy cat people if we get a 3rd cat? I know the transition from 1 to 2 was a little stressful. Share any stories or information you might have, please! </p>
