I was induced at 38 weeks for pre eclampsia with my son. My BP was 140/90 at my 38 week appt and during labor it did get up to 180 systolic.

My son is 4,5 years old and I've struggled with borderline "at risk" BP ever since. Mostly it was between 120-130 systolic. Not dangerously high, but not health for a mid twenties woman.

Finally, my BP is back down. It was 104/70 at my visit yesterday. Through a combination of diet, exercise, and hibiscus tea (no joke! I read a study that it lowers blood pressure and it's been so effective for me!), it's finally back to normal.

Hugs and hoping it goes down soon!!

Similar to @Caly: I was induced at 36+6, delivered at 37, and my BP actually shot up higher after delivery despite magnesium and BP meds. They released me after 5 days on 2 BP meds and I think I was able to come off them after 4 weeks, though my BP wasn't completely back to normal for a few weeks after that.

It was SUCH a frustrating time for me thinking it would never get better - I feel for you! I hope it comes down quickly

@mossyslane: I can't remember all the details and exact time frame, however, I had very high blood pressure prior to delivery (36 weeks) as well as after. I was kept in the hospital a couple days after delivery so they could monitor me and then was prescribed medication (can't remember which one) in an attempt to keep it under control. I ended up staying on the medication for a couple months if I remember correctly and eventually it all leveled out and my blood pressure went back to normal. Prior to pregnancy my blood pressure as always great and it's been ever since. Hope it get under control quickly for you!

So, two weeks ago, I was induced at 37 weeks for high blood pressure, very similarly to the delivery of my daughter four years ago. After my older daughter's birth, my bp returned to normal right away, but now, almost two weeks later, it's still high. I've been prescribed lebatalol to bring it down but the side effects have me feeling so weird. I am so hopeful that things will resolve soon--any experience?
