We're an interfaith couple so we do secular celebrations of the holidays.

We're also agnostic and will be celebrating secular holidays. They're mainly excuses to get the family together to do something fun.

Both my husband and I are agnostic and we've always celebrated Christmas and Easter! We just never incorporate any of the religious aspects of them. For Christmas, it's all about Santa and the raindeer and getting a tree and giving presents, etc. And for Easter, we always had an Easter basket, maybe an egg hunt, and always a good meal!

We almost always celebrate both holidays in only a secular fashion. My husband and I are are agnostic/atheist so we have no intention of having anything but secular holidays with out kids.

For me the holidays are about family and fun.

We celebrate Christmas in a secular way every year. My husband is Jewish, but not practicing or religious at all so in the future we will continue to celebrate Christmas but in a secular way. I think for Easter we will just decorate some eggs or do an easter egg hunt once we have kids, but we don't do anything now except go to a (secular) family get together every year.

I'm Christian, my husband is Catholic. Neither of us go to church though, I send my son to a private Christian school (confusing much?) We attend his school's Christmas service and play. We know and understand the true meaning but celebrate with Santa, a tree, presents, stockings, and dinner.

My son is too little to understand anything this year, but I do think about this a lot, as my husband and I are not religious at all. I'd like to create traditions around the holidays that both my husband and I enjoyed as children, but it seems like something is missing without the religious aspect. It almost feels phony. I guess I have some guilt built up.

We will do as our families did, and focus on the religious side, and share the secular, as they will do that at school anyways, but we will make sure they know the Christian symbolism and meanings behind all the aspects of the secular. You can't actually HAVE the secular Holiday without the religious, although many people are in the dark of the origin of small things like the star on their tree and the Easter egg.

We're definitely celebrating secular-style. We have a tree every year, a dinner with the family, presents, and we'll teach our kid(s) about Santa.

No church, no saying grace, no prayers, nothing religious at all. We're both atheist/agnostic, so we wouldn't feel comfortable bringing in something we don't believe/understand to the holidays.

We celebrate Christmas with the church and with Santa. We also celebrate Easter with the church and the Easter Bunny. I find the Easter and Christmas services so moving, I just have to go to them even if I miss here and there through the year. We're probably just going to confuse our kids, but that's half the fun of growing up. :)

Yes, we celebrate both in a secular manner even though my husband is Lutheran. I was raised Buddhist. I think, in general, we will give our kids spiritual guidance but not geared towards any particular religion.

I consider myself a Christian but I've never been one to focus heavily on the religious side of the holidays. We definitely celebrate in a secular manner.

i'm a christian, but i don't mind celebrating secular versions (like halloween!).... but my DH (darn husband) is against that. he doesn't want the kids to celebrate halloween or santa, so i doubt we'll celebrate easter bunny. we'll see. i still haven't given up that battle yet.

My side of the family is much more into Santa than anything Churchy. My husbands side though is like super-church going during that time. We all do the tree and presents though.

As for Easter, same thing. Egg hunts and bunnies are cute when they are young but now, just give me a bag of candy and let's call it good.

Mrs. Bee and I are not religious, but we will probably celebrate a secular Christmas with the kids. My mom is Buddhist/Shinto, but we celebrated Christmas in a similar way. Then again, Japanese are huge on celebrating Christmas in general...

I don't know if we will do anything for Easter though, beyond maybe an Easter egg hunt or something:

Anyone out there participating in a secular celebration of Easter or Christmas?
