@MrsTiz: I'm actually not sure you would need another stroller later? Just depends on the person I guess. My first was in a stroller maybe 5 times with car seat as an infant and my second has never been in a stroller. For us, we could have used this as our one and only stroller and it probably would have been used more than the City Mini since it is right there attached to the seat.

Too rich for my blood, especially since you need another stroller later on!

Side note- the way she parked her car is really bothering me. She couldn't make it in between the lines? gdflkgdfl!

@Foodnerd81: Thanks! That's an interesting read!! It's interesting coming from MBeans as they do a lot dealing with higher end products and them being split between the two.

The Doona wasn't a car seat we would have actually considered now (maybe if it was for our first?), but we did end up going with the Cybex Aton Q (essentially the only car seat that would fit 3 across in my car and still super pricey) and I am SUPER excited about it!!

@anbanan15: just saw this nice write up comparing the Doona to the Chicco key fit and caddy, and thought of you.
http://mbeans.com/spillingthebeans/baby/strollers/doona-vs-chicco-keyfit-caddy-which-infant-travel-system-is-right-for-you/
(Sorry super long link).

Doesn't really address how it actually drives compared to the caddy though.

It's a cool concept but not all that practical really. I mean, it's not THAT hard to open my stroller and click the infant seat in. Plus, we only used the infant carrier for 6 months max. It's in my husbands car for the random daycare trips he makes, but no chance she would sit in it for longer than that. She hates that seat now!

@Foodnerd81: Yes! I agree!! I think this is something that is situational. In your case the extra weight would be a lot (idk how you do it in any seat!). I personally have never been a fan of the snap and goes. They make me leery. Same thing when we used the infant seat adaptor for our city mini with my first. This just looks more stable? Who knows....but ultimately at $499 and in baby #3, we would probably never get something like this. I do think it is a cool concept if it works for your lifestyle.

@anbanan15: true- im thinking of my specific situation where I have two flights of stairs to get to my condo. If you had an elevator that would be awesome for it. It's a cool idea but I'd still rather just get a cheap snap and go and regular seat. Although I wonder if the stroller is way better than a snap and go. Probably.

@loveisstrange: It goes up to 33 lb, 32". My (almost) 18 mo would would be able to use that thing forever! In our case I sort of wish I had this because we never used the stroller for either kid, always baby wore. I may have been more inclined to use a stroller if I could have just lifted it out of the car and went.

@Foodnerd81: 15 lbs :bummed: But if you are using it like the video and only lifting it in and out of the car and not carrying it around like you would with a traditional infant seat, I don't think it would be that bad.

@loveisstrange: I agree. Plus isn't it awfully heavy? This is a case where I feel like you are better off with two separate things.

Eta: looks like it's 6 lbs more than the Chico keyfit (15 vs 9). Adds up when you are carrying a 15 lb baby in there too.

So.... you'd need ANOTHER stroller after your kid outgrows an infant seat? $499 + another stroller + a convertible carseat is kind of ridiculous.

Yeah.... no way.

We are in the market for a new infant seat and I just came across the doona car seat. I am in love!! Does anyone have this or is getting it?

It's $499 and I'm not sure practical for us...it might be too wide for 3 across and we have a perfectly fine city mini that I have probably used less than 5 times and with my first child only, but man this thing is awesome!!
