@BabyBoecksMom: YES- I lost weight in my 3rd trimester day because my doctor noticed I had again 11lbs in 4 weeks and told me I needed to quick doing whatever I was doing (pigging out & sitting in my booty). I was 34 weeks at the time, so I started walking everyday (nearly 4miles a day) and I didn't gain a single pound from 34w-40w+3 (when I gave birth). My son was 7.8 lbs so, he was healthy & I managed to keep it all at 30lbs gain.

I wouldn't eat more!

I lost weight in the first trimester. I gained in the second/third trimesters. I've heard of second time moms gaining less than first pregnancies.

With both my pregnancies I gain a decent amount the first trimester and then around mid 2nd trimester I have several months where I don't gain anything. I guess people just have different patterns.

I didn't gain weight until 17 weeks, and my midwife wasn't worried. At 27+2, I'm up about six kilos total and would ideally only gain around six more. Your body does what it needs to though, and provided you are being sensible, I'm sure you are fine.

I'm 35+1, and I've gained 3-5lbs, after gaining 35lbs with DD1. But all is well w/baby - I've measured on target all along, and an u/s at 32wks confirmed DD2 is doing fine (67th%).

I chalk it up mostly to having a 2yo to chase around, but also to not being very hungry. I'm definitely bigger than I was w/DD1, so there's less room for food in my belly.

@BabyBoecksMom: I lost 10 Lbs in first trimester cause I just felt too crappy to eat much. I brought it up with my doctor around 16w when I was feeling better and she said not to worry. Sure enough the 10 lbs quickly came back......and another 35! I'm glad I lost the 10 to start!

My weight issues are due to morning sickness, but at 19 weeks I'm still at -3 pounds below my starting weight...

@BabyBoecksMom: I'll admit I wasn't a small person to begin with, though. That probably has a bit more to do with it.

I lost weight in the third trimester and had to force myself to eat. My ob told me not to lose anymore. I would just talk to yoir dr. I just wasn't hungry and had a hard time digesting.

I just thought of something - I'm wondering if I'm losing muscle since I haven't been able to work out like I used to... ?

@MrsKoala: Wow! I think I gained that much in just my 1st trimester - haha. Maybe I'm just evening out ;-)

@Honeybee: OK. I have my GD test next week, so I'll bring it up to him then.

With both pregnancies I continued losing weight through the second trimester. I would bring it up to your doctor, but generally it's not a big concern.

I lost weight up until like 17 weeks. Gained some of it back and then a couple pounds more around 20-24 weeks and that's it. I'm eating normally (or as normally as I can) and the weight gain isn't really happening. My fundal height is good so my doctor isn't worried about it. (I should mention that this is my first pregnancy and I'm 30 weeks now. Up about 11 lbs total).

... or not gain much at all?

I noticed that I'm not gaining the typical 1-2 lbs/wk with this pregnancy, like I did with my last (as in, I'm 5 months along and gained less than 1 lb so far this month). Yes, I'm running after a toddler, but is the lack of weight gain a sign that I should be eating more? I'm definitely eating when I'm hungry...

I'm wondering if I need to bring this up to my OB, or if this is common with 2+ pregnancies.

ETA: I never lost weight due to morning sickness in the 1st trimester
