Update: well, seven weeks of eight hours straight every night has devolved into up every two hours. Just in time for me to go back to work next week. Perfect. It doesn't help that he's rolling both ways so no more swaddle and he's still in the bassinet but seems to have outgrown it. Time to get a crib I guess. 😴

@MrsSCB: I also was very worked up about it but ours was a blip on the radar. I don't remember anything traumatic or him changing sleeping patterns too much. This website is a blessing and a curse- I get a lot of questions answered but also unnecessarily preemptively worry about stuff for no reason.

Dd never really had a 4 month regression. But she's always been an awesome sleeper and slept through the night before 2 months. She had somewhat of an 8 month regression, but I think it was also due to flying cross country then.

Neither of mine had a 4 month sleep regression. I think they both improved around then, especially my second. They were both good sleepers to begin with, especially my first. They did/do sleep worse when travelling, though.

Ours was awful and we had to sleep train to get her out of it. BUT, it ended up being the only sleep regression she ever had (I have definitely heard friends complain of them at later ages, even toddlers who had been STTN). So just wanted to give hope in case you do end up dealing with it that you may end up lucking out down the line like we did.

DS2 wasn't so bad but it did coincide with teething so his sleep did get crappy for a while but it went back to normal after that, fairly quickly. DS1 it was terrible. His sleep was never ok after 4 months (actually about a week before). He didn't sleep through the night until he was 3 years old after that. :(

My second had some trouble around give months but I was pregnant and having supply issues. She's been consistently STTN since.

We didn't have a 4 month regression (I don't follow wonder weeks or regressions like that at all) but I didn't have a good sleeper from the start, so things were pretty bumpy in the sleep department.

I definitely noticed the typical sleep regressions with my DD1 a lot more than with DD2. Maybe it was just that I knew sleep would be ever-changing and didn't have time to obsess over what might be the *cause* (i.e., nothing! it's a baby!)? Or maybe DD2 didn't really go through them? Not sure. But I would say the only real "regression" DD2 had was when she went from SSTN (6-9m) to waking up to eat once around 9m-11m. But it was really easy to extinguish that feed again once I decided to.

I'm afraid to tell you because I'll be up all night if I say this out loud, but Dubs has always been a good sleeper. He woke up twice a night for about his first three months and since then has been down to once unless he's sick. I actually totally forgot about the four month regression until I realized at about six months that he'd never had it.

@erinbaderin: @catgirl: How was their sleep before four months? F has been sleeping six to eight hours straight since just before eight weeks...I'm hoping that's a good sign (although I shouldn't even been saying this -- first rule of good baby sleep: don't talk about good baby sleep ;-) *knocking on all the wood* )
