I always look forward to them. Mostly because I really like my midwife and enjoy each opportunity to build my relationship with her, as I know that will lead to a great support system for my birth.

I think they are super boring and kind of a waste of time. Whenever I have a question I google it, so all they ever do at the appointment is weigh me, take my blood pressure, and listen to the heartbeat. It takes like ten minutes. I just look at it as a precautionary task.

I find mine pretty dull, too. I don't even take DH to mine - there's no point us both being bored! She takes my blood pressure, dips a stick on my pee (and says nothing about the result) and then schedules my next appointment.

I mean, I do look forward to then in that its another milestone ticked off in my mind, but I'm certainly not excited about them (not like a am for an u/s!). Maybe as they get more frequent as the big day approaches, I might get a bit more excited!

I looked forward to mine (usually) because I liked my midwives and I enjoyed chatting with them at my appointments, but I was already pretty well informed so I didn't actually get much out of the appointments, knowledge-wise.

Yeah, i find the appointments really boring. It didn't occur to me that it might be because I'm already well informed.

@Silva: Exactly! That too. With a previous miscarriage, I always liked going in and hearing everything was good!

@sslm: Yeah, I always get excited too. I was also very anxious for most of my pregnancy, and the appointments always made me feel reassured and less anxious

Hmmm... I am always excited! Even when I have no questions. I don't have a doppler though, so I love hearing the heartbeat.

I got excited for the first few, when I had a lot of questions, and hearing the heartbeat for the first few times. We don't have a home doppler or anything, so it was exciting to hear it and get confirmation that there was something going on in there.

Now, though, I'm just in that middle zone where things aren't really changing, I don't have any real questions (like you, I find out so much on here!), so it's just routine. And by routine, I mean, rush to get there on time, then sit and wait because she is already running late, have a quick 20 min sit down, hear the heartbeat, schedule next appt. The end. So yeah, not exciting at this point but I don't mind it either.

i always found/find my visits to the OB boring. i rarely have questions and i'm in there for like 5 minutes. the highlight is hearing the baby's heartbeat.

...or am I just weird?

I don't mean the hospital appointments where I get a scan, those I love... but I just cannot get excited about seeing my midwife. Ok so I've only had 2 appointments so far, but I think having my own doppler and getting so much great advice from HB means I don't really get anything out of my appointments.

DH made me laugh when we came out, he said we must have seemed like the most unenthusiastic parents to be ever, as she asked if I wanted to hear the baby's heartbeat and I was like "sure, ok" and when she found it there was no reaction from either of us, haha.
