Thanks for the feedback everyone...sorry for the delayed response from me! I am still debating what to do, but nice to hear some of you got by with only 6 weeks. Its part finances, part feeling guilty for the time off (from a putting work in a bind standpoint). I have a little time to think about it though

I'll be doing 6 weeks pp. I am being taken out 2 weeks before the due date, but I am in a 10mo position right now, so I'm not really working right now. I get paid for my maternity leave, though, as long as the doctor says that I need the time off.

I work from home (a busy job), and I'm only planning on taking 6 weeks off. My husband will go back between 5 and 6 weeks, so I'm hoping it's a good amount of time, too. Looking forward to seeing other responses!

Exactly like @Crisark: I went on bed rest at 33 weeks and was induced at 37 weeks. I went back to work after only 6.5 weeks. Physically I felt fine. It was a rough transition going back to work and leaving the baby though. But, since this is your second, you know what that feels like and know how to cope. But, physically it was fine.

@Amelieisme: congrats!!! I think 6 weeks is doable. My friend went back at 6 weeks after having her 2nd LO. I think she would have gone back sooner.

Physically, I was fine. Emotionally, at 14 months PP, I still struggle ;)

I couldn't have sat for long periods of time, I had terrible lower back issues post birth. Maybe if I had better pain meds?

I went back after 7 weeks.
It was doable. My biggest challenge was pumping. I feel like if I were able to nurse on demand a little longer my supply would've been built up enough to lessen the stress of pumping at work. (I did nurse/pump for 11 months but it was a struggle at some points. I had to supplement when I first got back to work until I got a good routine going.)

I'm out for 8, but thinking how I was last week at six weeks, yes, I could have gone back. Congrats on the baby!!

i did, i think it was doable. we just needed to prepare a little faster like finding a nanny/daycare, pumping BM earlier.

Hello all! Just got a surprise BFP the other day :) LO is a year old and we were planning to wait longer, but....looks like #2 is on his/her way. Anyway, now onto figuring out logistics. For my first, born by c section, I took 8 weeks of maternity leave. My work situation has changed and I am wondering if I could get away with only taking 6. My maternity leave will be unpaid so it would just be easier financially if I went back. I honestly can't remember what those last 2 weeks were like and if I would have been able to go back. I do know I had started exercising again by then so I'm thinking that I could physically do it. Anyone take so little? Scary thought to me! Things would definitely be better if we had a little more time to build up some savings so we would be less financially burdened by the time off....
