@Mrs. Bee: in your current circumstances, I would suggest stress. Can you think about the last time they occurred and if you were under a lot of stress then, too?

@travellingbee: I used to get hives from the cold as well, but (mostly) outgrew it in my early 20's. I've never met anyone else who had this issue! :)

@Mrs. Bee: I don't get them frequently (Thank God) but a year ago I got them horrifically for months on end. Eventually they subsided but I suspect that they were caused for me by repeated rounds of antibiotics that I needed for a cough - I suspect that they built up in my system and I came out in hives.

I used to and found out I have a mild soy allergy. I can have it now and again but not on a regular basis. I miss soy sauce and all things cooked with it.

I used to get them after I had DD. They were especially terrible after a hot shower. Thankfully I haven't had them this time.

This happened to me exactly! I did the patch test on my back and took steroids to get them under control, but they never found a cause. One theory was a sun allergy or heat rash (hope that's not the case for you since you're moving to a sunny place!).

Hives from the sun, apparently hair die (even though I used to die my hair every 8 weeks), laundry detergent, tea tree oil. I am probably forgetting something. I have just given up and live with them. I can't take Zyrtec because it lowers my blood pressure and I feel drunk.

I occasionally get hives and I have no idea why. Usually on my hands and sometimes on my trunk. It's never lasted more than 1-2 days at a time though.

Earlier this year I started breaking out in hives every day over my entire body, so I went to see an allergist. I wasn't allergic to anything, and after a month of taking zyrtec, they went away. My allergist said that's the #1 reason they see patients, but it is often very difficult to pinpoint the cause.

The past week they've returned again. I've never had any allergies in my life.

Do you break out in hives? What causes them?
