We just bought the rainier. My 3 year old loves it. He fell asleep in it almost immediately. It wasn't too bad to install and not too reclines (though definitely takes up space). We don't have the angle adjuster yet but it doesn't bother him. We are excited for the longer rear facing time we have.

@spaniellove: What did you end up choosing? I'm thinking about the rainier myself but we don't even have Buy Buy Baby in my state. I'll have to buy it online sight unseen.

@Applesandbananas: My car is not that tiny but DH's car...we never even bothered putting an infant seat in there! And the Nextfit is one of the only seats that fits, like you said.

@spaniellove: I haven't seen that one but I feel your pain re small cars and massive car seats! DH has a tiny two door and the Chicco Nextfit was the best fit. I was shocked because it seems enormous, but the 9 different recline options had one that actually let us use both driver and passenger seats comfortably and have a proper rf install. We've been really happy with it! I know that doesn't answer your original question but I wanted to throw it out there since you mentioned having a small car!

@Mrs. Yoyo: That's good to know, thanks! It makes the difference between it fitting and not in a lot of smaller cars.

We have it! It's like 3/4" wider than the radian, I believe.

@Foodnerd81: apparently I didn't look hard enough because our local store does have it, just in a color I wasn't looking for. So I can try it out in our car tomorrow!

@Alivoo01: strangely the guy at bbb helping usdidntknow anything about the adjuster. I still don't think it would have fit since our car is so small though

I may be wrong but I believe the angle adjuster pad for the radian couldn't be used until the child was a year old. With the angle adjuster it fit in my Ford fusion, the passenger seat was pretty far forward but usable. It gave me an awful blind spot though.

I just read a review and it appears that the height is the same on the two seats but the rainier has a wider top due to the increase in side impact protection.

What if you use the seat adjuster pad? I heard that helps reduce significant recline room on the chair so the driver/front passenger doesn't have to scoot their chairs way up.

They had it at y local BBB- they actually only had that out, the radian was in the clearance section. Neither fit in our car so I can't speak to one being a better fit, but they looked about the same to me, with nicer fabric. But I bet your store will have them.

Our backseat is pretty small and there's no way either was fitting. :( I wanted it to work because people love them!

We somehow need to switch seats in the next month so I have to finalize my decision and I'm pretty sure it will be a Diono seat. The Rainier is pretty new and I don't think our local Buy Buy Baby carries it in store, so I'm wondering if anyone has seen it in person and might be able to compare it to the Radian RXT? My main concern in deciding between the two is whether it'll fit RF for an infant in my car without having to move the passenger seat all the way up.
