We always put our LO's to sleep in their crib or bed and take them to our bed when the woke motn. LO1 was coming into our bed every night when LO2 was born. I think he got confused and annoyed when LO2 would wake up and within a month started the night in his crib, would wake up and ask to go into the twin bed in his room and stay in there until morning. LO2 still comes in our room most nights but lately will sleep until like 4 or 5 which is not bad. I won't mind when he consistently sttn because he is awful to sleep next to now!

@snowjewelz: Hmm, now that you mention it, it has stopped but I don't know when. He always started in the crib and ended up in our bed. Around 2am when he was tiny, around 4:30am around his 2nd birthday. Somewhere around late age two/early age three.
@alivooo1 good luck!

DS is 2.5 and we still co-sleep. It's a love/hate thing. I do wish he would sleep in his own bed because he's a crazy roller and is all over the place, making it hard for DH and I to sleep at night. However, I do love the morning cuddles and smiles/giggles. I still would love if he slept on his own bed, but he won't have it.

We're expecting #2 in 6 days and she'll be in her own bassinet next to our crib for a lil while. I'm hoping she takes to her crib and sleep training better than her big brother does!

We did until he was 3. He'd start the night in his own bed and come finish the night with us whenever he woke up (usually around 1am). We stopped because my pregnant belly was getting too big for us all to sleep comfortably in our queen sized bed. It was pretty easy to get him to sleep all night in his bed. If he woke up, we would give him a quick back-patting if he called for us OR he'd get to choose from a treasure box of he slept all night without us. The baby co-sleeps with us these days. Now that the baby is here, my husband goes to sleep in our son's room if he wakes up (I think he wants the extra attention/cuddles).

We've done several overnights together without our son. Last summer he stayed at my parents house for 4 days without us. My dad would sleep in the bed with our son when he woke up in the MOTN.

@regberadaisy: Maybe I don't feel it?! DD usually stays to her side and I kinda stay away from her too!

@yoursilverlining: It's probably easier to transition when you can reason and talk it through with them! I'd totally be willing to do "bed next to us" kinda thing too. And good to know that you have been able to go away overnight!

We still bedshare with LO with is 3.5. We have begun the process of LO moving to her own bed (started it again, I should say haha). When she turns 4 she is getting a "special bed" which will be next to ours but which will be her new bed. She claims she will sleep in it. We will see.

When we've gone away and LO has stayed overnight with grandparents, they bedshare with her too.

@snowjewelz: yup a Cali King is longer but narrower than a King. You must just be used to the MOTN drop kicks and face slaps. LOL We've let DD1 sleep with us a few times and DH and I always get woken up. 😂

@Applesandbananas: I see! I guess I feel weird to ask my mom to sleep on our bed with her, haha!

@regberadaisy: Haha I think a Cali King is actually a little narrower! DH always jokes he has a king sized twin :silly: DD sleeps perpendicular to us too.. It's weird, she doesn't like touching us but she likes being close to us. Yeah, for some reason it just works! We all STTN!

Kudos to you guys because I would never get sleep if they slept with us! In the mornings when DD2 wakes up at 5 I pull her in bed to nurse. 1 out of 10x she falls back asleep. Usually laying across me. DD1 would fall asleep perpendicular to DH and I. Meaning we both get about 9" of bed space. We have a Cali King!

@snowjewelz: no, he has a big boy bed, he's never been in a crib much, or he'd bed share with whoever is staying with him. My best friend and her daughter may come stay with him while I'm in the hospital with LO2, so I could see them all sleeping together in the same bed, watching movies and goofing off until the kids zonk, like a toddler slumber party :)

@Applesandbananas: So you'd stick him in the crib then? I mean us together too.. I've never gone away but DH has and I was happy about the extra space :silly:

@snowjewelz: I've gone away overnight and he's been fine! DH and I haven't gone away together, but I'm not worried about it from a bed sharing perspective. It's just a couple nights in the grand scheme of things, so if we did (and we might when LO2 arrives, if we both stay overnight in the hospital) it wouldn't be the end of the world!

@Applesandbananas: Glad to know it's going well! I am not TOO concerned about baby #2 either... I'm just afraid of even less room, haha. The "saddest" thing so far is that we can't go away overnight! I was all excited looking into staying out one night for our anniversary this summer before we start TTC for #2... But realized we can't due to bedsharing!

Yup. DS is almost 3 and sleeps with us. We enjoy it most of the time. He's very snuggly and it's nice to get those snuggles after long days of threenager-ness. I don't know when we will stop. We are expecting baby #2 in September, who will be in our room too, but I doubt that'll change things. DS is deaf so I'm not concerned about baby waking him up and I'm also way more comfortable with him in our room anyway because of that. We will probably let him decide.

When did you finally stop? Or if you haven't, when do you plan to?

DD is 15 months and we still happily sleep in the same bed. But we do want her eventually out since we plan to have another one, and also I feel like we'll never be able to go away overnight if can't sleep on her own!
