I was positive both times. I had antibiotics the first time but he was born too soon so he needed additional monitoring requiring a longer hospital stay. No big deal, because I had to stay anyway to recover from my c-section.

The second time I had a scheduled c-section, so I didn't have to have antibiotics at all.

I tested positive both times. It's normally harmless if you follow protocol, they just require you to come in early if your water breaks so they can start you on antibiotics (it can pass to the baby during delivery). You need antibiotics either way for vaginal births. Not sure about c-sections.

I received IV antibiotics during labor with my first, but with my second, I barely made it to the hospital in time and wasn't able to get hooked up to any IVs or monitors! We had to stay an extra day to ensure he was OK. Everything was perfectly fine though, they weren't worried at all.

I tested positive with only my second. All they did was put me on an antibiotic drip so baby didnt get it when I gave birth. The bacteria is in your birth canal so with a C section you'll be fine

I tested yes for first.
For second, I tested negative the day before I went into labor and the hospital didn't get the updated records, so they gave it to me anyways :meh:
For third, I tested positive for group B and UTI in the beginning but it cleared up with two round of antibiotics. They retested me at 38 weeks and since it came out negative, I did not need antibiotics during labor

Negative with first, positive with second and I had a vbac where they swept membranes a few times and my water broke at home. I got one dose of antibiotics at the hospital and it was just annoying to load it in because they had to hold my hand at a weird angle while I was in labour.

I was negative with my first but tested positive at my first appointment this pregnancy so my doctor didn't even do the swab last week. I am also having a scheduled c-section, doctor just said if I go into labor before then to call early so they can get me in and the only concern was if my water breaks but they will just administer antibiotics.

It’s only really a concern if your membranes rupture before your scheduled c/s. But even then they’d just give you IV antibiotics! Generally baby is monitored a bit closer (vitals every 4 hours for 48 hours or until discharge), at least at the hospital I work at.

According to the March of Dimes as long as labor doesn't start before your scheduled c-section (and your water doesn't break) then you shouldn't even need antibiotics.

I was positive for both kids. Make sure to take a probiotic after childbirth. I ended up with thrush likely because of the antibiotics from birth so make sure you get that good bacteria back in your gut after childbirth.

I was positive for both. The abx were fine. I was really swollen because of all the saline though! So if you swell easily maybe ask for ted hose (compression stockings). I don’t know why I was positive; never on abx during pregnancy. 🤷‍♀️

@Mrsbells: It was a burning sensation up my vein. They slowed the antibiotic drip so that it was diluted more by the saline and it was just a slight annoyance then. But something to be aware of, so that if it hurts you know to ask for them to turn it down.

I was negative with my first and positive with my second. They did two rounds of antibiotics while I was in labor and had to slow the drip down because the antibiotics burned. But other than that it was really no big deal. My OB still swept my membranes.

I had it with my first, didn't with my second, and in my third i tested positive for a Strep B UTI at 8 weeks so they won't even bother swabbing me and will just treat me like I have it (regardless of the fact that I've had antibiotics twice during this pregnancy!).
It really isn't a big deal. For my vaginal deliveries its just meant I have to try to get to the hospital earlier in labor so that I can get antibiotics. But if I miss it, they aren't concerned- they will just want to keep us there for the full 48 hours to ensure baby doesn't have any signs of infection.
Oh. And they won't do a membrane sweep to try to induce. Womp womp.

This is my 3rd pregnancy and i have always tested negative. So I was surprised I tested positive this time. I have taken antibiotics during this pregancy and not sure if that plays a role. I'm having a schedule c section so I guess I don't need to concerned?
