I put the bassinet straight in the crib for a while until it was definitely too small. With both boys by that time they were used to the environment and the non-rocking and getting rid of the bassinet was no big deal. I started for the first week with naps and when that was fine I moved to bedtime too.

I used the rnp with DS2 which is a similar concept. I moved him to the crib between 2-3 months. No problems! I kept the rnp handy for nights he needed a bit more soothing. It's so convenient to rock when your half asleep. But overall the transition was seamless.

We've used the fisher price rock'n'play for the first couple of months with both of my kids. To transition to the crib I moved the rock'n'play into the nursery from our bedroom and put it next to the crib so that they could get to the new environment. Then we gradually stopped using it to rock them until after a couple of weeks we were just putting them down in it and not rocking it at all. That way they were used to not having the motion. Then we moved them into the crib. They still had to adjust to having a big, less snugly space, but doing it gradually helped. DD had an easier time that DS, but I think he was just ready to be out of the swaddle and we were still swaddling him at first.

Good luck! Any change is a little scary with babies...

We went from a cradle to a crib and didn't have any issues (that I remember). I think I used to rock LO's body side to side just a little and that, sometimes combined with patting, did the trick.

Hello everyone

I was wondering if anyone used a bassinet that rocks (i have the fisher price portable bassinet) and then transition to the crib. My DD is 3.5 months and she still sleeps in the bassinet and is still swaddled. She sleeps great (from 9-10pm to 6 am).

However sometimes she does wake up from time to time and starts fussing a little and i just reach over and rock her bassinet and she falls back asleep. It also rocks when she moves around in it so i think she even rocks herself sometimes ( moves her head back and forth fast).
I'm thinking of moving her to the crib because she is getting too big for the bassinet but I'm worried that I'll have to pick her up if she wakes up because i cant rock the crib :/

Anyone with anything similar?
