@danda: yeah I think that is what I am leaning toward after seeing it post-knot. Amazon is a great idea for elastic! I was going to go to Joanns but haven't had time to get over there. Thanks!

@MamaCate: I replaced it - ordered some elastic on Amazon (not the Bumgenius kit) - for a few dollars you get enough elastic for a ton of diapers. I'm not a sewer but I know how to use a needle and thread and it takes me about 30 min per diaper.

@danda: that is my concern! Did you end up replacing the elastic or doing something else?

I did it briefly but didn't love it. It did work but I felt wasn't necessarily going to be as comfortable.

@thismustbetheplace: do you feel like the elastic has enough give left to keep everything in?

Yup! My pre-loved BG's needed the leg elastics tightened and this worked like a charm! Obviously it's only a temporary fix but luckily the elastics are super easy to replace compared to other brands i've seen.

We loved our BG 4.0s for LO1 and now #2 is on the way in a few short months. I looked into replacing the elastic to update my diapers and found a you tube video about knotting the existing elastic instead of adding new. I tried it on one and the gathers are definitely tighter, but I am worried that there won't be much give.

Has anyone tried this? How did it work? Hoping for more info before I do it to the other 25 diapers!

Edit: here is the video in case you are wondering what this is:
