@FarmWifeGina: Yea, maybe... I really don't want to mess with the shipping or the fee. lol

Wonder if maybe I could get a short stool or something to replace the seat? Idk.. I just know it would've been nice to have! lol

@runsyellowlites: I think the La Bassine is also a pretty popular model, so even if you can't sell it locally, maybe check out eBay?

@FarmWifeGina: Lol to the tub reference! Not being able to get the belly under the water was no bueno! BUT DH did pour water over my belly through contractions so that helped! lol

I REALLY wish I would've seen the BPIAB last time! I wonder if I could actually sell mine... don't think there's really a market for them here. =/ lol

I labored in a regular bathtub with my first labor and just felt like a beached whale in pain, lol. The shower on my back was great with my second labor (hospital birth, no tubs). Now I'm planning another home birth this time and will be investing in the Birth Pool In A Box. Like @runsyellowlites: I'm not tied to a water birth, but I'd like to have the option and I think having an actual birth pool will be a better option for me since its deeper than a regular bathtub and you get the actual depth needed for buoyancy and the weightlessness. The BPIAB is actually the deepest on the market, which is why I'm getting that one because I'm a tall girl and I like my water deep, lol.

@runsyellowlites @VEGMAMA I used the Birth Pool In A Box and LOVED the seat! It was super comfy and helpful to rest. The handles on the side were great to help support me so I could float and lay on my side and give my doula and husband a break.

@chanzi: My thing was leaving myself the option. (I didn't want a water birth really either). My MW told me that she had moms that were adamant about having one but as soon as it was time to push they wanted out & vise verse. I figured my plan was just to go with it. lol

I'm excited about this option at my hospital, but actually they allow water births at the other local hospital as well. I'll probably be trying both the tub and the shower for pain relief, but I don't plan on having a water birth.

@VEGMAMA: I got this one:
http://www.store.waterbirthsolutions.com/La-Bassine-Inflatable-Tub-Liner-Deluxe-Kit-LPD10.htm

BUT should've gotten this one!
http://www.store.waterbirthsolutions.com/Birth-Pool-In-A-Box-Regular-Tub-with-One-Liner-BPR10.htm

I don't know how I didn't see it but the little seat would've been great! I may try & sell my other one so I can upgrade for our next!

To air it up I had a little electric pump that I had used for other things & we got a small pond pump from Home Depot to empty it... took a whole 15 minutes to get it empty & packed up!

I'm actually ordering my birthing pool this week for my homebirth!

I may or may not use it or birth in it, but I definitely want to keep my options open since I'm relying completely on natural coping sources for pain.

Once I was at the hospital they kept asking me if I wanted to get in the shower and it was the last thing I wanted to do! I do wonder if it would have helped with the pain though. I'm just one of those people who is like "just leave me alone and don't touch me" when I'm in pain!

I labored for my transition time (2 hours) in the tub and it was wonderful. I don't know if I would have been able to go medication free without it...

@bluestriped bee: that's awesome they were able to find a hospital that allowed a water birth! Impressed!

My SIL had a water birth. They found a hospital in Ohio that allowed it. The hospital by me only has a regular tub. I really wish I could have a water birth. There is a hospital about 45min that allows it. Not sure if I want to be that far from a hospital.

I didn't do it at the hospital, but I did get in the tub to try to relieve contractions at home. It did nothing for me. I was just wet and in pain.

But other people swear by tub births so I guess it just depends.

Ohhh I find this so interesting. I cant wait to see responses. I would LOVE to do this. However, the hosp here does not do this. I wish they would. Secondly, the doctors have already informed me whenver I do get PG and have the baby it will most likely need to be via c-section due to other med reasons. : (

I have one friend who laboured in her tub at home until she was 8cm and swore that being in the tub with her hubby pouring water over her back was her saving grace. I have another friend who hated the tub, but loved standing in the shower with the water running over. I think it's different for everyone, and you just have to find your happy place.

Using a tub wasn't an option at the hospital I gave birth in, and I didn't take a bath before I went to the hospital when I was in labor because the pain wasn't very bad yet (plus the tub in our old house was gross and I probably wouldn't have wanted to anyway.)

So, I'm just wondering, is getting in water really a good source of pain relief during labor? Did anyone try it and love it or try it and meh? I'm just curious, as I don't think it's really an option at my hospital this time either. But since I live close to the hospital this time around, I plan to labor at home for a long time, so maybe I'll try it in my tub at home.
