I love it and I don't think it's too messy. The nets are a bit hard to clean but a good soak in hot water and scrubbed with a clean nail brush or bottle brush and they're fine. We started using it at 6.5 months, only about three weeks after we started solids. We've used it with slices of pear and she ends up eating almost all of it (there is only a tiny chunk of solid pear left when she's done) and we've also used it with apple. They're all right. I put a banana in it yesterday and this morning, and LO loved holding it and sucking on it! I haven't started purees yet and have only just started experimenting with solids.
