You could try the patch. It's slightly less convenient than nuvaring because it's gets yucky at the edges. But better than taking a pill IMO.

@prettylizy: That sounds great, honestly! I think we're going to TTC in the spring, so I'm not sure it would be worth doing (it's pretty expensive here, unfortunately) now, but after I have #2 I am absolutely considering it.

@meredithNYC: It was a breeze! A little discomfort for a minute and then I was completely fine. My OB perscribed a tablet for me to insert 2 hours prior to the procedure to soften my cervix (so that might have helped). To me it was no worse than a pap smear and I plan on doing it again after LO#2 and leaving it in 4ish years until DH and I are certain we're finished and he can get the snip.

@prettylizy: Interesting! So I know they say that the Mirena can be pretty painful to insert if you haven't given birth. Since you had, was it it okay going in (ha- sorry, not sure how else to put that!)? I'm afraid it will be super painful still.

@Vegmama: The pill definitely does suck. I'm actually thinking if I give up on Nuva Ring I might just go without. I'm not wanting to start trying for another baby for a little while, but at the same time we wouldn't be at all be unhappy with another pregnancy. Once that's done, I'll probably have to go with Mirena.

@babynumber1: It's funny how much these things vary from person to person, isn't it? I have always had such good luck with the ring that I'm just reluctant to do anything else.

That's a bummer... my sis is on the ring and lurves it. I'm a mirena girl, had it put in at 6 weeks pp and my periods were so light! I didn't have to remember anything except that it needed to come out before we wanted to TTC again. I had it taken out at 11 months PP and was PG again on our first month of trying @ 15 months PP

I tried it after I was done BF and it made me super nauseous. I have a friend who loved hers, but the hormones just did not work for me.

No personal experience, but it makes sense. I know the makers of the Diva Cup have two sizes (one for before pregnancy, and one for after).

I used Nuva Ring for years, and loved it for the same reason! Maybe your OB/GYN has some information about other options. Taking the pill sucks!!

So before I had LO, Nuva Ring was my favorite birth control - mostly because I am forgetful and it's pretty much fool-proof that way. After having LO I took a long break from bc and have just recently gone back to the ring. Well, it's not quite the same. This is definitely TMI, but I feel like it doesn't stay quite as secure in there since things are a bit looser post-baby. And LO is 15 months old, so um, I don't think I can look forward to the situation getting any better. I'm annoyed because I may have to go back to the pill! Did anyone else find themselves in this situation?
