Im really sorry! My LO got sick right around 12 months and got into lots of night feedings. We had to train her to cut those out.

After that I stopped pumping at work and she just nursed morning and night. Weekends were a bit hard but she has learned that mommy's milk is all gone and she needs a sippy instead.

Give it some time! I am happy where we are at now at 15 months but am kinda hoping we are done by around 18 months.

DS is 21 months now and is almost officially weaned! He was always a very avid nurser and at one point I started to feel overwhelmed because he was pouncing on me every single time I sat down. I think this was somewhere around 18 months.

At that point I started a policy of nursing only in certain spots. We gradually eliminated nursing downstairs and when we were out he could nurse only in the Ergo. I would also use the tactic of putting him off for a few minutes. Often he would be distracted and forget about it. Make sure that you up the food and liquids that you are offering as they start to nurse less. It will help them to be full and not get dehydrated. Also you can find other "bonding" activities for you to do together as you lose the special nursing time.

I wanted his weaning to be very gentle and gradual. He's nursed on demand since he was born and I knew an abrupt end would be bad both for him and me. Doing it this way, I never had problems with engorgement. And though I will always miss the closeness that we had when nursing, I know it's the right time to start the next phase of his childhood.

ay yi yi I feel ya. Liv is 16 months old and has NO interest. I come home from work and the first thing she does is go "MAMA!" and grab her loveybear, ask me to pick her up, and points at my chest, then to her room. Its like a routine. We just bought a house and are moving, so nows not the best time to wean with all the changes. As soon as shes settled in, I think Ill cut it. She nurses when she wakes up, before naps, and at bedtime, plus the "get home from work" session on weekdays. Im looking for tips too!

Olive is almost 14 months old and shows no interest in reducing the number of nursing sessions we have. I would be fine to continue longer term if it were only 1-2 times a day, but it's 4 times a day plus night wakings.... and would be even more if I let her!

She was really sick the past two months with cold after cold and finally getting RSV, so I had to nurse her since she would barely eat. But now I'm really, really exhausted from 2 months of nonstop night wakings and am getting ready to sleep train today.

Anyone else have a nursing addict? How did you eventually reduce nursing sessions and wean?
