Everyone was very supportive (we were just under a year of marriage) we only had one comment that was like "wow that was fast!" And I just smiled and said we were very blessed and lucky.

We got pregnant about 3 weeks after our wedding. We were terrified of what people would thing... but you know what?
1) It doesn't matter!
2) People don't really care as much as one might think :)

So TTC and enjoy and don't worry about them!

We got pregnant 6 months after we were married. There were some people who, before we announced it or before we got pregnant, commented that of course we'd want to wait a while and enjoy each other first. But once we announced, even those people were ecstatic. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

It's always the worst when you have to tell friends or family members who are having trouble conceiving or had a loss. Everyone else was generally happy.

@sorrycharlie: that's exactly the kind of reaction i'm expecting from my dad, too.

I think the reason i'm so nervous is because i'm young and DH is too, so when we talk about kids in front of family members we get "oh there is no rush! enjoy couple time first!" instead of asking when we'll give them grandkids. It's the right time for DH and I (if there ever really is one), but our family is really close and really important to us so we're nervous on how they'll react.

Yeah, I sometimes fear that certain family members of mine won't be thrilled when we eventually make an announcement. I've always been accused of being the favorite and spoiled, so I've already gotten preliminary comments of "Your kids will get so much more than mine" from some peeps. It' skind of sad that peoples greed will take away from their happiness for us, but it at least won't take away from ours :)

@MrsTiz: I was afraid of my dad's reaction, and I was entirely right. he and my mom had me young (18 and 20) and my entirely life I've felt like I had to do things "right" - went to college, grad school, got married, etc. no teen pregnancy here! then at 24 (BFP 6 month wedding anniversary!) I found I was pregnant, and I just knew he'd be mad/disappointed. I mean when I say terrified to tell him - I was sick the entire week before I finally did.

His reaction was terrible. His face turned white and red, and he thought we were joking. He then started to go off about student loan payments, bills, we don't own a house, etc. He was thinking of his own struggle - not thinking of how he was making me feel. It was terrible..we went upstairs and my mom sent him nasty text messages (he stayed downstairs). I sobbed when DH and I went home that night.

Within a week he came around and tried to explain his side to me - and I came right back with why there's never a good time and how badly he made me feel. He felt absolutely terrible (no one has let him forget it!), and he is more excited to meet his granddaughter than anyone else now!

Even if someone has a less than desirable reaction, and I'll be honest - it totally sucks, especially with the added hormones - they come around in time. It doesn't make it any easier in the moment, but they will be excited for you!

I have some friends who are pretty outspoken about their thoughts regarding our mutual friends who have kids. I worry that they won't want to hang out with me anymore when we are pregnant :(

I just keep telling myself that everyone who matters will be excited for us - especially since the people who matter the most know that we've lost babies on this path. Kinda stinks to think about the naysayers though, doesn't it?

I think you'll get comments no matter what. Before we were even married people asked when we were planning on having kids and once we got married the questions only became more frequent. Then you'll get people who think you should wait _____ months/years/whatever before trying. Once I was actually pregnant and we told people we got a lot of "I'm surprised you waited so long" even though we only waited a year before trying and it took 4 months from there.

Long story short, you'll never please everyone so don't waste too much time and energy thinking about it. Have fun and try for babies when it's right for you and your husband.

Aw, I think it's great that you guys have everything settled and are ready to TTC after four months! I don't really understand why people get upset with folks for getting pregnant 'right away.' It's none of their business! :D

I do sympathize with the worry that people won't be excited, though. I know my own mother won' be happyt, and it's a hard thing to deal with. Good luck to you!

Last year, well before we would be trying, I had a couple of friends separately make comments about how we shouldn't have kids for a while-- basically, they wanted everyone to wait until they were ready so they wouldn't lose people to hang out with. It was actually kind of annoying to me, even though I knew we would do it when we wanted.
However, I don't think anyone will be surprised when we do-- we are both 31 and have been married almost 2 years. Pretty expected time to start.
My brother and his wife were actually just barely pregnant at their wedding (got a BFP 1 week later) so that was fast, but they were a little older when they got married and everyone knew they wanted to start right away :)

DH and I officially started TTC, and it got me thinking of how people will react when we announce pregnancy. We're not going to be telling ANYONE that we're TTC but I know a few people who won't exactly be thrilled with us getting pregnant since we've only been married 4 months haha!

I don't know why but i'm really worried people won't respond positively.
