I'm so sorry! Yes to seeing a doctor. I didn't have a prolapse, but I had some major ligament/pelvic floor issues that were causing problems like this: discomfort, incontinence, pain with sex.

I ended up getting referred to a GYN chiropractor, who did work to strengthen my pelvic floor, and relax the ligaments. I went from extreme discomfort to feeling completely normal within a few weeks. I'm a little scared about getting pregnant again, but we'll be done after that baby, and I hope we can fix it again.

Good luck! With the right care provider, I'm sure it'll be normal again.

@Cherrybee: You definitely need to see your doctor ASAP, girlfriend! Especially if you want to have another at some point (or are you one & done)?

@loveisstrange: So you find it gets worse sometimes then improves again? Mine wasn't this bad until recently. I knew something wasn't quite right - a little discomfort during sex etc - but then a few nights ago I did a huge sneeze but held my nose to keep it in..... the pressure caused a huge fart (at a party no less, I'm mortified) and then the golf ball feeling started. I had a look and..... well it was pretty scary in there.....! But today it is a lot better than it was. Its like it's gone back in a bit.

Ugh. I need to see a doctor, don't I? Im so done with people rummaging around in there.

@Cherrybee: Yours might be more severe than mine, from how it sounds. I occasionally feel like its bulging and sometimes have to do a little helping when im using the toilet, but other than that it's not a bother to me.

@loveisstrange: I read that, too. I'm just not sure how a baby will get up there right now. *cringe*

@Cherrybee: I was told it's usually better to wait until you're 100% done having kids, on the chance that it happens again and you'd have to get surgery again.

@loveisstrange: Can I ask why you haven't had the surgery (yet??). Were you offered it?

I have this. It doesnt effect me too bad except sometimes i have to put pressure on my perineum when I go poo. I was led to belief that surgery is the only option to correct it but that it has a high success rate.

My mom has a complete uterine prolapse after #3. She ended up on bed rest following the delivery and hasn't had complications since. She originally wanted more kids but stopped after the prolapse.
I hope you get some help with yours, sounds uncomfortable!

Thanks ladies.

Wow, I can't believe so few people have had this! Dr Google made it out to be so common.

@daniellemybelle: wow, how awful. Poor them!

@travelgirl1: That sounds very positive. Phew!

My SIL did. She had surgery to fix it and got pregnant very soon after. As far as I know, she hasn't had the same problems with LO2.

Two people I am close to had this. One had a hysterectomy and then a second surgery to put a mesh in because her whole pelvic floor prolapsed. The second had a reconstructive surgery and was able to have a second child, but her pregnancy was hard & she had to have a scheduled C section, and it is recommended she not give birth again :(

Hopefully your case is not as severe!

Particularly the kind where your bowel protrudes through the back wall of the vagina and it constantly feels like you've rammed a golf ball up there?!

What treatment were you offered?
