Reviving this thread! Were any of you ladies recommended to go on a gluten-free diet for the Hashimoto's?

I have Graves's disease which I think is also called Hashimoto's disease. I found out about 10 years ago while I was in law school. My thyroid was out of control...I had crazy heart palpitations, was hot all the time, was hungry all the time, and had really bad muscle fatigue (my legs would shake like crazy from just going up one flight of stairs). My thyroi was ablated (radioactive iodine) twice and ive been on synthroid ever since. My thyroid was checked duringy pregnancy and stayed within the normal range so my prescription didn't have to be changed.

After giving birth my thyroid levels were out of control again which is common. And now my baby is almost 4 months old and I have to get retested to make sure the levels are stabilizing.

I had a really easy pregnancy and my baby was healthy so it wasn't an issue but I will say that my hormones were out of control post partum and I think having out of control thyroid levels contributed to that.

@anbanan15: Just a little internet research looks like, as long as you know about it and have it controlled you should be ok. Whew! We'll definitely want at least one more, so I'll have to keep an eye on my thyroid levels.

@MegWag: Oh no! I just found out post pregnancy. My endo believes the stress of pregnancy brought it out underline symptoms. I'm just trying to look ahead at the future because we did want at least 2 children.

I don't have it, but my dad and all his siblings do. I'm pretty sure I'm at risk to develop it at some point. I've already got really thin eyebrows!
I hope it doesn't have a big impact on TTC or pregnancy for anyone.

How has this impacted your pregnancy or TTC journey? Are you consider high risk because of it being an autoimmune disease?
